Garden of Eagen: A Lover's Getaway and Spiritual Retreat
Looking for a private and romantic getaway? Hoping to rest, relax and renew in the majesty of North Idaho? Look no further!
This intimate cliffside home is built on mountainside rock overlooking Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding mountains. Be embraced by the water, mountains and animals that make it their home.
The panoramic vistas are jaw dropping. Nature surrounds you from every angle. From your bird's eye view from the Garden of Eagen, eagles and osprey soar above the lake as you take in the view. Watch sunsets from the large infinity deck or as you unwind in the hot tub.
Floor to ceiling windows allow you to awaken to the most inspirational setting and welcomes a new day. While the day beckons with a host of activities and attractions nearby, you may never want to leave.
This beautifully appointed home has all of the amenities for your escape. Enjoy the hot tub just a few steps outside the master suite, separate bathrooms, satellite TV, and a fully stocked kitchen.
The home provides 2 gas fireplaces, one in the spacious master bedroom and one in the living room. Built with an open concept and expansive lake-facing windows, the entire home overlooks the water and mountains for an intimate experience with nature. This home was built with love; you’re sure to feel at home when you enter in.
This area is home to multitudes of recreational activity including hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, paddleboarding, downhill skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Spend time exploring and enjoying Sandpoint, named 2011’s Rand McNalley's Best Small Town in the US. Visit Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort, Silverwood Water Park or take a road trip via the scenic highways to Montana and Canada. Or, you may find yourself longing to stay in, relaxing and enjoying the magic of the Garden.
This home and property is so much more than a place to sleep. It’s a place to rest, rejuvenate, relax and reconnect with yourself or your partner. Our hope, as hosts, is that you will love and appreciate the Garden as much as we do.

About the host
Hosted by Paul & Bethany Coulston

We are high school sweethearts from a small town in Alabama, college graduates from Auburn University and a married couple who fell in love with the mountains while on our honeymoon in Montana. That honeymoon trip inspired us to make the mountains our home and, when God opened the door, we took a leap of faith and moved across the country to follow our dreams. We currently live in Columbia Falls, MT with our black lab, Maggie, and a job as a home baker (Bethany) and a home builder (Paul). We prefer to spend our free time surrounded by nature, whether it be mountains or lakes, and love to take relaxing weekend trips to nearby towns. It was because of these interests that we discovered this property and visited as guests several years ago. From the moment we walked in the door, we were surrounded by the peaceful serenity that fills the home and immediately fell in love with it. Our hope is that you feel the same way, too.
Why they chose this property
Our discovering this property seems like a dream. Before buying the home in June 2017, we were simply guests of an incredible home that Jack and Jeanelle Shields shared with others. And what a blessing it was for us to be able to spend anniversaries and holidays in this spectacular place. They created a vacation experience that surpassed any other rental we had ever visited. And when the opportunity for us to purchase the home presented itself, we could not pass it up. Our goal is to continue the tradition of providing others with a unique, romantic escape to refresh and renew. This house deserves to be shared, and our hope is to to share it with you as it was shared with us.
What makes this property unique
This house cannot be simply described with words, or even pictures. You must experience it to fully understand it's beauty! The home is situated on a cliff overlooking Lake Pend Oreille and has floor to ceiling windows providing you an expansive view from nearly every room.
