The beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Newlands Valley and Bassenthwaite Lake are both near Braithwaite and Buttermere. There's something for everyone, from scenic strolls to difficult hikes up Skiddaw or Catbells. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, Jennings Brewery, and Mirehouse, a stately house and gardens on Bassenthwaite Lake, or cruise Derwentwater.
