About this property

Garden Cottage - delightful cottage in the tiny rural hamlet of Pardshaw Hall

Garden Cottage is a converted 18th centuary barn adjoining the owner's garden. Very comfortable and roomy, tastefully furnished and with excellent modern facilities, it is situated in the quiet hamlet of Pardshaw Hall just outside the Lake District National Park. The colourful garden and open fields opposite are seen through the front windows, and a few metres along the single-track road is the entrance to Pardshaw Crag, a delightful limestone hill where stunning views are awarded of the Western Lake District mountains and across the Solway Firth to the Scottish hills. Nestling at the foot of the Crag is the historic Quaker Meeting House and School Room where the world famous physicist John Dalton taught before going on to achieve his great discoveries.

Visitors to Garden cottage during cooler times of the year will have cosy central heating supplied by the very energy efficient air-source heat-pump, There is a mobile signal and WiFi, and lots of books, DVDs etc. available in the lounge. For EV owners there is a Zappi 7kw charger, tethered, with type 2 plug. We charge you no more than the current rate at which our electricity supplier charges us.

Cyclists can store their bikes securely and there are many quiet lanes, bridleways and fell-paths close by that give wonderful biking and walking, summer and winter. The Whinlatter Forest is a short drive away with good biking and walking trails. Loweswater, the nearest lake and one of the quietest in the Lake District is about a 10 minute drive away as is the designated "Gem" town of Cockermouth with it's famous Wordsworth house. For adventurous hill-walkers, Fellbarrow, Haystacks, Grassmoor and the Buttermere mountains are easily accessible, as are the valleys of Ennerdale and Wasdale. Keswick and Borrowdale are about a 25 minute drive away.
