Cottage w/Lake Views & Open Slip Dock/Perfect for Family-Couples-Friends
Our cottage at the lake is a great location for a family or couples getaway, girls only/guys only weekend, and only 45 minutes from Atlanta. It has 3 bedrooms—one with a brand new King, one with a brand new queen, and one with a twin-over-double bunk bed. The sleeper sofa in the family room is a full size, comfortably sleeping 1 adult or 2 children. The house sleeps 5 Adults and 2 Children comfortably. The brand new master bath has a large walk-in shower and the brand new smaller, hall bath has a shower. Both bathrooms have blue tooth speakers in the lights. Watch TV or your favorite movies on our Smart TV or DVD in the Family Room viewed from the most comfortable recliners ever designed. The keeping room and kitchen are flooded with sunlight in the morning and are the gathering place for family and guests while breakfast is prepared. Light the wood burning stove for additional atmosphere.
The woods surrounding the house provide shade in the morning and again in late afternoon while the home’s high location above the large sloping lawn allows a year round lake view from the large windows in the kitchen and family room, as well as from the deck. The view of the sunset over the water begs dining al fresco. Located on a half-acre, mostly wooded lot, the lawn is great for tossing a football. We love that our house sits so far from the street. It's quiet here. Turn slowly into the drive when you return from a late dinner and you will most likely see deer in the woods. When you sit on the deck with your early morning coffee, look down the trails. You may see them looking back. On a pre-dawn winter morning, they may be in the front yard, nibbling acorns fallen from the giant oaks. It’s peaceful here. The only neighbor you will hear is the pileated woodpecker.
Follow the leaf strewn trail down to the dock and rest quietly. You will see fish under the dock and maybe witness the flight of a great blue heron. Because our dock is deep in the cove, the water is calm without wakes or sounds from boats passing on the lake. It is a safe place to swim, play, and float. We have a covered, single slip dock that is open, and boat and jet ski rentals (Port Royal),as well as a public boat ramp (Mountain View Park), are just minutes from the property by land or by water. Our dock is drought proof! Even when the lake level drops, we always have 15-20 feet under our dock, and where many properties are located in shallow tributaries, our cove provides full lake access from the Olympic Rowing venue, all the way to Buford Dam.
Passing the dock, you can continue your walk through the woods around the point and along the lake shore trail for a celebration of fall color. If you look out the windows during a heavy snow, you will have the impression you are on a mountain top above the clouds. In the spring, the profusion of gardenia blooms scent the air, and the woods are full of birdsong and speckled with the white blooms of indigenous rhododendron. The slam of the screen door during family picnics will sound just like your childhood.
This is not just a house at the lake. It is a true lake house.
If you wish to venture out, we are minutes from downtown Gainesville (check out www.Gainesville.org and don’t miss the free concerts on the square), Starbucks (a must for my husband), shopping malls, grocery stores, Multi-Movie Theaters, live theater, parks with walking trails, hiking, waterfalls, and every type of dining experience from candle lit, white linen to fast food. We are, of course, close to Lake Lanier Islands and all the activities there. We are also not far from Chicopee Woods Golf Course, North Georgia Premium Outlets, Georgia wineries, Gibbs Gardens, all the fun in Dahlonega including a tour of the gold mines and free shows at the planetarium (check out dalonega.org), and you might even catch a rodeo at the Cumming Fairgrounds

We love the lake .. summer, fall, winter ... anytime. The girls love to tube, we like to relax and pack a lunch and have a great day but then it ends and we have to go home. We hated the going home part so decided we wanted the lake to be "home" at least some of the time. We hope to some day slow down and spend more time there but until then we want to share the happiness of the cottage and the lake with you.
Why they chose this property
We fell in the love with the quiet cove, the location on the South end of the lake and the deep water. Our cove is perfect for playing, relaxing and just a great day at the lake. No boat traffic with interrupt your time in the water. Port Royale and Pelican Pete's one of our favorite lake places to grab a bite is an 8 minute boat ride away. Lake View Cottage lets you leave the city behind... kick back and relax.
What makes this property unique
Private. Quiet. Beautiful views. Tranquil cove for sunbathing & water play. Our dock is drought proof! The cottage still had 15' under our dock and access to all of the lake from the Olympic Rowing Venue all the way to Buford Dam when the lake level dropped 21' in 2007! We have an open, covered dock for your watercraft and we are close to boat and jet ski rentals. In addition to all the water play on the lake, we are close to downtown Gainesville--groceries, shopping, antiques, theater, movies, restaurants, public parks w/trails, playground, picnic areas for larger gatherings, historic sites, museums, art galleries, fabulous spa. And for a longer stay, we are the perfect location for day trips to Gibbs Gardens, Georgia Wineries, festivals and offerings of other North Georgia towns. We have compiled an extensive directory of activities in the area including Sports & Adventure, Leisure Activites (including theater & the arts), Food & Dining, Shopping (including Antiques).
