About this property
Stunning Home with Garden & Panoramic Views
Summary:
CURATED PROPERTY PRESENTS: 'The Ridge' is a stunning new build development on the site of an old horse stables in the Bath countryside. Situated above the Bath valley, The Ridge provides unbeatable southward-facing views of the surrounding hills. With 5 bedrooms the home is capable of accommodating 12 guests, perfect for large families or groups looking to explore the history Bath or its stunning countryside. The Ridge sits amongst 10 acres of private meadow and ancient woodland.
The Space:
The main feature of the house is the large open plan kitchen, dining and living area, which occupies the south end of the building and the most spectacular views. The large kitchen is modern and fully equipped with high end fixtures and appliances, cooking utensils as well as a large island/breakfast bar - making it suitable for cooking substantial meals for the large group. The dining table comfortably seats 8 guests, where you can enjoy a home-cooked meal whilst admiring the valley views. The large living area provides a sociable area for guests to relax or open the patio doors to the south and enjoy the afternoon sun.
Four of the five bedrooms occupy the western wing of The Ridge:
- Bedroom 1 (the master) features a super-kingsize bed and en suite.
- Bedroom 2 features comfortable twin single beds.
- Bedroom 3 features a standard double bed.
- Bedroom 4 features a large kingsize bed and also has an en suite bathroom.
- Bedroom 5 is located to the north side of the building and features twin single beds.
The playroom is now set up as a twin bedroom with two single beds, making it suitable as a sixth bedroom. There is an additional utility room and boot room located off the entrance hall and the property comes with amble private parking and secure garden area, with a patio area to the side of the building.
Sustainability was a priority in the building of this house and no fossil fuels are used, with all electricity coming from renewable sources. The house has triple glazed windows and the hot water and underfloor heating is delivered by the latest in air source heat pump technology. Local and independent suppliers have been used extensively in the build and furnishings. We refill shampoo's, soaps etc from a local Bath shop reducing the need for single use plastic
Guest Access:
You have exclusive access to the whole house and there are a couple of sets of keys to let you come and go as you please. You will be greeted on the day by our lovely housekeeper Mary who knows the house inside out.
The Neighborhood:
The Ridge sits amongst 10 acres of private meadow and ancient woodland in the intimate valley of Charlcombe, which lies just at Bath’s northern edge. Charlcombe is a tiny village with a charming 12th Century church. Jane Austen records walking in the area.
The property has the unique benefit of being surrounded by lush valleys and hillside pastures with far-reaching views across Bath and beyond, whilst also being in the city Bath (BA1), with the city centre only 3 miles away.
Fancy a pub lunch? The Ridge’s local has been voted one of the best pub’s in the UK Hare & Hound which can be reached by foot across the plateau of the valley within 15-20mins (without stepping foot on a road!). Furthermore, the trendy village of Larkhall makes an convenient alternative to the City centre which provides cafes, restaurants, deli’s, butchers, fruit and veg, etc.
Getting Around:
We would recommend using a car for your stay at The Ridge, as the house is located out in the countryside, however once in Bath centre most attractions are in walking distance. The property is ideal for wellbeing, with various cycling and National Trust running/walking routes on your doorstep (incl the Cotswolds way) providing some epic trails into Bath or upto the famous Solsbury Hill through villages such as Woolley, Upper Swainswick and Langridge.
Other Things to Note:
We are dog friendly however please be advised that you must clean up after your dog - any dog foul left will be a chargeable extra.
If using the car charger we will send over receipt following your charge for payment.
We partner with TRUVI to carry out secure guest ID verification, helping to ensure a safe and trusted stay for all parties. Once you have completed verification with TRUVI, your stay will be protected by Guest Guarantee and you'll benefit from an accidental damage cover.
Interaction with Guests:
We are available for the guest to contact us, meet and greet is arranged through Mary, whose telephone number will be provided upon booking.
