Lakefront Log Cabin with private dock on Lake Rhodhiss with Kayaks & Paddleboard
Peaceful new log cabin on Lake Rhodhiss. Perfect getaway for fishing, swimming, boating, or just relaxing. Log cabin decks overlook the private dock with full view of the lake. Queen beds in Master BR, second BR on main floor bedroom, and queen bed and full size futon in loft. Full master suite with whirlpool tub and separate shower, plus second full bath on main floor, and full bath/shower in loft. Room to bring your boat, and 4 kayaks available for your use. Approximately one hour to Charlotte, one hour to Asheville, and one hour to Boone, so centrally located in the best of North Carolina. Excellent fishing lake, with minimal development. Watch American Bald Eagle pair annually build their nest, hatch and raise their baby eagles, less than a quarter mile away. House sits up above lake with a steep concrete driveway, with winding sloping path to dock. Lake Rhodhiss is not heavily developed, so there is not a lot of boat traffic, keeping it very peaceful. If there are very heavy rains, the lake can get murky, but does clear fairly quickly. Gated community has 3 miles of paved roads for biking or walking.

We had a great vacation! The cabin was gorgeous and had everything we needed. The kids had a blast swimming off the dock, kayaking, playing ping pong, pool and playing board games. Very relaxing stay!
Everything was perfect about this property. The check-in was easy, the home was immaculately clean, and I used their bikes and kayaks to enjoy a peaceful week on the lake. Many great activities are located nearby and I easily enjoyed my time on day trips to Charlotte. The home is well stocked and they even provided starter food supplies. The tech in the house worked perfectly and the wifi was fast. It was fun to observe the eagle nest that is very near the house. Kayaking is easy and the lake is fun to explore. Hickory and other nearby towns have fantastic restaurants and there are many places to take hikes. I would not hesitate to rebook this property.
What a wonderful stay ! We wouldnt change a thing. We brought our boat along . And were on the water every day. Swimming, paddleboarding ,wake boarding and skiing. The hosts are excellent, the house was clean , well stocked , and family friendly. Our children declared it ;
' the best family vacation ever!' 😊
This cabin is a dream come true . Sitting out on the deck looking over the lake is sirreal . fishing off the dock was fun, LOTS OF FUN. This cabin is like being home . supper clean and you have everything you need . thank you Steve
We were looking for a lake house close to Morganton and this home was perfect! It was a great set up for our teens with ping pong and pool table, and had everything we needed to cook our meals. Jodi and Dan were very responsive to our needs during our stay. It would be good to know that the descent to the lake and dock is very steep and would not be a good fit for anyone with difficulty walking.
Our family stayed here for a week and it wasnt long enough really. The property is gorgeous and peaceful with little to no boat activity on the lake. The kids enjoyed the kayaks, fishing and pool table. we loved exploring all the beautiful places near by. The hosts were amazing and called to make sure we got there ok and settled in. This was exactly what we were looking for and so much more. Deserves more than 5 stars
A beautiful place for 6 friends (3 couples) to spend a week in a North Carolina cabin. The cabin has all of the amenities one could possibly need and is located near the Blue Ridge Mountains. The town of Valdese was founded by Waldesians. A visit to their museum is a must. A most memorable vacation.
The hosts were great. They contacted me on the day of our arrival and made sure we were traveling ok. They had milk, cookies and fresh bread on the counter when we walked in, as well as a personalized welcome message. Everything was top notch. The dock was great and the provided kayaks were easy to access and easy to use. Check out was a breeze and even sent me a jacket we had left behind. 10/10 will stay again. Thanks Dan!
The property was lovely! The Loghouse was immaculately clean and decorated beautifully. The owners took care of our every need. The property accommodated us perfectly. We definitely plan to return for a longer stay.
What a great property! Gorgeous house and views from the lake! Peaceful lake, we were out on kayaks everyday and only saw maybe 6 boats during the week! Walk down to the lake was a bit steep but worth it!!
My husband and I were looking for a peaceful lakeside vacation and we were so happy with this property! The house was just beautiful and came fully equipped with everything you would need for a fun filled week ! We kayaked and paddle boarded, went fishing and took day trips to Boone and Blowing Rock and hiked the trailheads off the Blue Ridge Parkway. We burned a few calories walking down to the dock on the lake as it is steep . We were lucky to see eagles and Osprey and a variety of birds from the kayaks and the deck of the log house. Dan and Jody left us cookies and bread on the counter and milk and eggs in the refrigerator ! This is a special place and we hope to return again!
Our family had a wonder week at this lake cabin. The home was very clean, probably the cleanest VRBO we’ve stayed at. Our four boys (6-18) enjoyed swimming from the dock, kayaking, fishing, and seeing the wildlife. They saw otters swimming around the dock, and bald eagles in the tree tops. The lake is very peaceful, and very few boats. The lake is a downhill climb from the cabin. It was fine for us but could see that as a challenge for some.
We hope to visit this home again. It was just what our family needed.
We hiked, boated, and explored the area in this clean and well-stocked home. Coffee and dinner on the deck, and fishing on the dock at sunset were all perfect.
This house is a gem in the forest! It has everything you need. We loved the private dock and using the kayaks in mornings and evenings. All the amenities are perfect. Thank you for opening up your home and sharing this with others! We appreciate your hospitality and making yourselves available for any questions. We will definitely be back!!! We highly recommend this home - away - from - home!!
~Cheers!
Perfect cabin on the lake. Well stocked. 2 hour drive from Charlotte. Loved the area. Walked the neighborhood every morning. Saw lots of random birds and rabbits frolicking into the woods when we walked by. The owner provided us with a welcome basket of goodies Upon arrival.

Why they chose this property
We found this property in November of 2013, and immediately fell in love with it. This lake is a peaceful place, and we enjoyed it more and more every time we came, with the dream of building a log cabin on the property. We have now been able to realize that dream, and it is everything we had hoped for. We know you will enjoy it as much as we do.
What makes this property unique
There is something very special about a log cabin on a lake. It is a dream vacation home. A beautiful, peaceful setting, very private and quiet, yet not far from desirable amenities.
