Great location, fun activities all around, many restaurants to choose from and all around enjoyable time. Place was comfortable and clean and met our needs during our stay. Would highly recommend this place for those who want to stay in Sarlat.
What a fabulous place to stay! In the heart of the old town, easy walking distance to all main attractions and an absolutely gorgeous apartment! Felicity is extremely responsive and willing to make the stay as comfortable as possible. The host book is extremely helpful and the welcome pack was a lovely way to start our stay. We loved the huge windows opening onto the square and the apartment is very light. The only concern our friends had was noise experienced in the room facing the square, hence the slightly less than perfect rating. We had asked whether it was noisy and told no, however found the restaurants in the square often had music until late at night, which was heard even with windows and shutters closed.
A beautiful apartment in a perfection location. We loved our visit to Sarlat and being able to walk out the door and be in the center of the main town square, close to restaurants and shops. There's a small marche directly across from the apartment in a former church. Felicity was very responsive and provided really clear directions on finding the apartment and how to get in.
The location places you in the true heart of Sarlat. You sit at the window directly above the main plaza. We stayed for 6 nights and loved every minute. You have to want to be in the middle of things as it can be noisy in the front bedroom, even at 1in the morning, but with earplugs and a smile, our friend slept beautifully. Everything worked beautifully. We were happy.
Very grand appartement overlooking the main square
Had a great few days here with my wife and some friends. The flat has been tastefully furnished and has a fabulous master bedroom. Bathroom and kitchen were fine. All in all a great base for visiting Sarlat and the wider Dordogne. The town itself is spoilt for the number of restaurants with great local menus and 3 course meals for as little as €19. Great market on a Wednesday and Saturday with nothing but local french produce. We will be back

Thanks for your review, we look forward to welcoming you to Sarlat again.
3 bedroom, 2 bathroom property. Overlooking the central square. Very comfortable large seating area. Nicely furnished, rather than the frequently encountered Ikea stuff. A handicapped person might have problems with stairs. Kitchen was adequately supplied, but lacked a toaster or microwave. Paid Parking on street nearby was convenient, but cumulatively expensive. We thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay.
This was probably the most unique and special VRBO we have ever stayed in. The location is amazing and the decor and style of the rental was beautiful. You are basically staying in a modernized castle.
One consideration is the noise of the shows that happen in the square directly in front of the property. We enjoyed watching them but they do go until midnight and use amplifiers for music. The back bedromm was quiet enough for us, but the second bedroom can be a little noisy. This is not a knock against the property more of a headup if you are looking for a quiet get away.
Other then the noise I cannot recommend this property and region enough!
The two bedroom apartment is beautiful and situated right on the Liberty Square where you can people watch through the large windows day or night and take in the wonderful medieval architecture. We enjoyed lovely meals around the large dining table made from local produce bought at the markets just below our front door.
This is an authentic historic building yet the apartment has style and amenities to suit the modern traveller. It was a truly lovely experience staying here. The courtyard garden had a BBQ which we used. The space was secure for our bicycles. Thank you to Felicity for her clear communication and to Jerome for his prompt advice on turning up the temperature of the hot water.

Great location but doesn’t live up to the ‘excellent’ review rating
The apartment is in an ideal location and really at the heart of the city with a constant buzz of activity. We stayed in the apartment for one month, so our requirements were perhaps different than those looking for a shorter break, so please read this review with that in mind.We arrived at the start of the season (9th May 2025) so were expecting a refreshed, clean apartment, however, the decor in the apartment was looking ‘tired’ with quite a number of marks on the walls and even holes in the plaster, the freezer door was not fitted correctly and the mirror in the second bedroom was not attached to the wall. The apartment was generally clean, but the oven was dirty(and missing a rack for the grill pan), the shower was clogged with hair, the hoover was completely full and required cleaning. There was nowhere to store food which meant we had to rearrange the contents of the cupboards. The garden was noted as a ‘work in progress’ but was really no more than a patch of gravel and a very large patch of weeds which, without maintenance, got progressively worse over the course of our time there. There was no umbrella in the outdoor space. The apartment was not serviced on the last Friday of our stay (we left Monday) and the linen and towels, throughout our stay, although laundered were quite often stained.Overall, the apartment is in really great location for exploring the area in a beautiful and historic city, but doesn’t live up to the ‘excellent’ review rating.
Perfekt in jeder Hinsicht! Wunderschöne geräumige Wohnung mitten im Zentrum, liebevoll eingerichtet. Bestens ausgestattete Küche, schöne Bäder, Panoramablick auf den Markt bzw. zum ruhigen Innenhof. Sehr freundliche, hilfsbereite Gastgeber. Etwas ganz Besonderes!

Why they chose this property
This property is our dream come true - many years ago, when our children were small, we were penniless dreamers. We sat in the market square in Sarlat, having a coffee and musing on the beauty of Sarlat. We looked at the building that is 2 Rue Magnanat and thought how amazing it would be to be able to live there, and how we would never be lucky enough to afford a property in such a beautiful location. Roll on a few years and we saw this property on-line, and kept looking at it for a period of about 6 months, until the time came that we started to look for a pied a terre in the Dordogne. We never thought in a million years that we would be able to knock the price down enough, we didn't know the first thing about renovating in France, but we LOVED this place - it was our dream! We were so very lucky to work with amazing artisan tradespeople, a brilliant project manager, and the 'Batiments de France' overseeing the works. During the Covid years, we managed to get the renovations done, no mean feat from across the channel, in lockdown. We really hope that you love staying at our property in Sarlat - we aim to offer a unique, calm, beautifully renovated space, overlooking the bustling market square. The garden will be completed for the 2023 season, a barbeque area, seating and garden cabin - a space to relax and unwind with a good book and glass of rose
What makes this property unique
There are few properties in Sarlat that are as central, with the added advantage of a garden. The tall ceilings and large rooms make the apartment spectacular in proportions, but homely and pleasant to live. The accomodation could not be more central for all the bars, restaurants and shops in the centre of the town, whilst the garden offers a peaceful oasis, away from the bustle - a space to enjoy a barbecue with family and friends, a glass of rose by the firepit, after a day on the river.
