HOSTLERS COTTAGE
Hostlers cottage is set within the curtilage of the listed farmhouse and so has been designed in a sympathetic manner, retaining original oak beams and with the introduction of new hand-crafted solid oak joinery features, some from wood sourced on site. As a purpose-built conversion of original farm buildings Hostlers has everything one would wish to find in a holiday home-from-home. As well as a well-appointed kitchen area there is a separate utility area with washing machine and dish washer, and the bathroom has the pampering features of a drench shower and a whirlpool bath with oodles of piping hot water. There are TVs with DVD players in both lounge and bedroom, and a small, enclosed garden with dog proof fencing and BBQ, patio, table and chairs. Additionally, there is a covered BBQ area adjoining the cottage, ample parking and uniquely a decking area set in the middle of one of the lakes where one can soak up the raise or watch the sunset with a gin and tonic to hand. A track at the back of the lakes leads onto a drove heading off in different directions across the countryside, beautiful walks and perfect for dogs.
The high-ceilinged open plan design of the cottage gives the living area a spacious airy feel whilst at the same time there is a cosy comforting feel to this little gem of a country hideaway, ideal for romantic evenings for two away from the hubbub of modern life.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Good suprise!
The cottage was lovely, clean and well equipped. Weather was horrendous but the cottage made it very relaxing. Loved the surroundings and generally very pleasant.
We really enjoyed our few days’ stay at this property. Everything we needed was provided - including some fresh eggs - and the place was cozy and comfy. The nature walk and pond were great, and a wonderful location to spot wildlife including deer, heron, and an owl. Several good pubs are nearby but the highlight was probably the cooked breakfast at the Grumpy Goat cafe. Would definitely return.
A lovely peaceful get away. Well equipped cottage that had absolutely everything you could need. A lovely rural, quiet location with nature on your doorstep...we see many woodland animals and birds.
We loved Hostler's. It was sparkling clean, beautifully furnished and equipped. So much wildlife visible from the Patio doors and garden; rabbits, squirrel, Muntjac deer, pheasant partridge etc. The garden fence is quite low < 1m and open to enable enjoyment of the view.
We were delighted when we arrived to this beautiful property. It was so much better than we thought from the photos we had seen. The property was clean, tidy and well equipped when we got there. There was also some eggs left for us. It was peaceful and tranquil. The bed was super comfy to.
We loved exploring the cathedral at Bury St Edmunds and took a walk around Diss and I am sure there are many other places to visit.
If we are coming that away ahai wouldn't hesitate to book again.
Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Friendly before and after contact by host. Lovely small lodge in very rural setting, surrounded by open fields, droves and lanes, great for rural walks, with or without dogs and straight from the door, be prepared with waterproof shoes or boots, especially in wet conditions. Watched a squirrel bury an acorn in the garden, deer walk by and ducks. We stayed in November, weather was cold, on arrival noticed how clean and fragrant this property was, glad radiators were easy to operate as it felt a bit cold in living room area and bedroom heater wasn't on, easy to turn on though, after a few hours whole place warmed up nicely so we had a cosy stay. There were fresh eggs, some small pots of milk, sachets of tea, coffee and sauces plus condiments, tea towel and washing up items, nice thick towels in the bathroom. There is a folder with plenty of details about the surrounding area etc, in opposite directions there is a Co op shop and a spar shop both only a 5 - 10 minute drive away. My husband drives for a living so we always look for somewhere where there are walks straight from our stay and shops not too far, we like quiet, peaceful and rural and that's what this is, but also to be able to have a lovely hot worlpool bath or nice drench shower and we found the bed to be soft with a deep mattress and great for snuggling down to watch tv in bed. A few board games etc provided. Need to take bedding for dog, all wood flooring, could do with doormat at french doors. Gravel parking area.
Beautiful place. A real home from home. More actually, I don’t have a spa bath! Not having gone self-catering for many years, I brought everything but the kitchen sink! It wasn’t necessary. Atrocious weather but that’s always our lot! Lovely fresh eggs left by Sara. Would go back again to have a chance to look around the area more.
Would have really loved the holiday but had to leave early as the mattress was very uncomfortable lumpy and saggy really a bad nighs sleep. Such a shame as the rest of the cottage was of a good standard.

Relaxing, clean and well appointed retreat!
Had a fantastic week at this beautiful property which is ideally situated (in a very quiet area) for exploring Norfolk and Suffolk. It has all the amenities that two people would want, plus the bonus of a couple of single sofa beds in the living area. The cottage is fitted out to a high standard and was very clean! The tray of pantry items was much appreciated and the eggs laid by Sara's hens were delicious, so thanks for that. Lots of wildlife to see around the cottage and the pond side seating area is ideal for watching the stunning sunsets.
From a purely selfish point of view, we're reluctant to recommend it because we know that anyone who visits will return, and that means it may be booked up when we want to go back! (It's that good!!) Seriously though, you will not be disappointed.
Gorgeous little property.Had everything that you would need, spotlessly clean and the jacuzzi bath was a lovely idea .Very peaceful area and plenty of places to go in the area.Kersey a must .We had a brilliant time .🥰
Restful and the bed is very comfortable. Lovely spa bath and rainfall shower

About the host
Hosted by Sara Fyfe
Since moving to Suffolk from the Fens of Cambridgeshire we have always wanted to find ways of using and preserving the lovely old farm buildings at North Hall farm which surround our lovingly restored listed farmhouse. Creating holiday homes from some of these barns will maintain their active life whilst at the same time allowing a greater number of people to experience the tranquility and peace of this most beautiful of rural-English locations. As we both come from a farming heritage moving away from the countryside was never an option once we were no longer farming, and developing opportunities at our new location helps us achieve our aim of the rural life we both so enjoy. We have aimed to create a holiday destination which will give the visitor an insight into the delights of living in this unique corner of the British countryside, and sincerely hope that you will enjoy your stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you to your restful country retreat.
Why they chose this property
In the conversion of the stables and the old dairy into holiday cottages, we have striven to create holiday homes which offer everything we ourselves would look for in an English countryside destination. The cottages are purpose built as holiday homes and as such the layout, design and functionality of the properties are ideally suited to your needs. At the same time, we have maintained a sympathetic approach to the original design and location of the cottages. The results are living spaces with a traditional look and feel, but which incorporates all mod-cons. From the restful, peacefully located cottage, one is in easy reach of much of East Anglia and its attractions, whilst there are a host of excellent restaurants and watering holes nearby. The area is a joy for the cyclist or walking enthusiast. Country lanes are not too hilly or challenging, and there are many little woods and corners for the perfect picnic spots. Despite the peace and isolated feel of the location the properties are easily reached by road or rail, making them ideal for a weekend getaway.
What makes this property unique
The cottage enjoys fabulous views over rural landscape, and peace and quiet on a level rarely found in today's world. Hostlers and Drovers are surrounded by meadows and ponds and are set at the end of a tree lined driveway over 250 yards from the nearest public road. This isolated setting means it is not unusual to witness deer, rabbits, a wide variety of birds and other wildlife at the site. Outside there is a semi-covered BBQ area and a decked seating area on the pond. Free range eggs are available from our own hens, and much other local produce is easily obtained locally, including organic produce. Light pollution levels are very low and sitting outside of an evening gazing at the stars is a particular delight.
