About this property

Garth Cottage-spacious family and dog friendly, two bedrooms both with ensuites.

Garth Cottage is a superb two-bedroom cottage on one level and boasts a very picturesque and serene location.

Garth Cottage has two bedrooms both with ensuite bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed with an ensuite bathroom (complete with a corner bath with overhead shower). The twin room has an ensuite shower. Both bedrooms are made up with luxurious bedding and soft fluffy towels are also provided.

Extra luxury is added with a spacious, light and airy beamed lounge, which adjoins the extremely well equipped kitchen with dining area. The kitchen has everything provided to cook up a feast and the views from the kitchen won't disappoint. The living area has a smart TV and a huge selection of books, DVD's and board games if it's a rainy day or you just don't want to leave the cottage! Arched windows and doors also lead onto a lovely south-facing patio, which provides glorious views of the Cleveland Hills and is complete with garden furniture, barbecue and a large lawn area. Gorgeous spring lambs can be found in these fields that will definitely keep you entertained, they are a favourite with children in the Easter holidays. There is a lovely pub in the nearest village which is one mile away and also a village shop. There are plenty of beautiful countryside walks directly from the cottage.

Garth Cottage can be booked with Meadow Cottage for groups of 8 people- ideal for family get togethers.

We are located in County Durham between Bishop Auckland and Newton Aycliffe, only 8 miles from the City Centre of Durham. We are close to local attractions such as Auckland Castle, 'Kynren- an epic tale of England', Durham Castle and Cathedral, Beamish Museum, Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, Newcastle, Weardale and the Durham Coast. The Yorkshire Dales, High Force and Teesdale are also well worth a visit.

perfect location
The cottage is great, it was very clean and unusually well equipped. We enjoyed the calm and quiet, the children especially loved the sheep right in front of the little garden. The location is well situated to have great days out, there is so much to do in the area. The hosts are very friendly and especially helpful.

Lovely countryside cottage
If you’re looking for a lovely quiet break out in the open countryside of County Durham, this is ideal. Also not far to explore places like Durham. Two bedrooms, each with en-suite suits a family group. Living room and kitchen are a good size with most of what you need (though note there is only a fridge - no freezer and no washing machine). Had a comfortable, quiet stay.
