This apartment is all about location. For my husband and I it was perfect. Bed comfortable linen and towels excellent. Shabby chic decorated. We would definitely stay again.
Very pleased with the property, good position in the town, apartment had everything needed, clean and comfortable very nice welcome pack (bottle wine, chocolate and a cream tea....thank you)
Finbarr’s apartment is fabulous. Perfectly positioned on the seafront - so lovely to see and hear the waves and easy to access all of Sidmouth’s facilities. The apartment itself has everything you would need and is well furnished and comfortable. The welcome cream tea was a lovely touch. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
The Property itself was very well organised and equipped so much so that for those who do not want to go out and eat every day there was more than sufficient resources to cater for yourself should you so wish. The apartment was spotlessly clean but does need a little TLC here and there but on the whole we could not fault it. We were in 'Esplanade' which looked straight out to the beach opposite and the sea. The apartment is a short 5 minute walk from the centre of town which has some excellent restaurants, bars and lots of independent little shops.
Communication with the owner was excellent and he is very responsive should any issues occur.
I would definitely stay here again!
Great location, well equipped and nice lounge and kitchen but bathroom was very dated and not very nice. Bathroom illuminated mirror and shaver point didn’t work, shower curtain was mouldy. Bed was very comfortable. Nice clean bedding and towels. One of the 2 key sets wouldn’t open the front door and the other set is worn and difficult to use. Odd neighbours occupy next door flat who refused to open the door when we were locked out in heavy rain! Parking is very hit and miss.

Thank you for your review, I hope the shortcomings didn’t cause too great of a distraction from enjoying your stay. We were disappointed to hear that the shower curtain had become mouldy, this has now been replaced by the cleaning company. So thank you for letting me know. They will also address the light and key situation. Unfortunately, we were unable to carry out our monthly inspection at the end of August due to us having to unexpectedly cancel our visit. Therefore we appreciate your constructive feedback, since which everything has now been rectified.
The booking process was easy and Finbarr, the host, accepted the request quickly. Communication was good and the instructions for parking and finding and accessing the property were excellent.
Although it's a ground floor apartment, access from the back is up a set of steep steps.
The layout of the property is quirky but really works to maximise the space. The huge window gives an excellent view of the esplanade and sea.
There was a lovely welcome pack awaiting us, which was great.
We had plenty of towels and washing-up equipment, as well as food prep and cooking equipment. The furniture was comfortable: we like a firm mattress and it was medium but not soft enough to give us back problems.
One thing we found useful is that the Ham West car park has a facility whereby you can buy a permit for up to 96 hours: although this doesn't guarantee you a space, you can leave the car all day if you're staying in Sidmouth or go out in the car and return after the shops have shut, when there's more likely to be spaces.
The property itself and the host are both lovely and we look forward to returning.
Excellent location. Property a little tired but everything you need for a short stay. Arriving on a very cold December day, it was lovely and warm to walk into.
Really enjoyed our stay. Sidmouth is a lovely town and this apartment is in a great location right on the seafront. The flat is well equipped and comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom have everything you need. Beds are comfortable. Would come again. I have no hesitation recommending this place.
Good comms with Finbarr before booking. Easy access to the apartment on arrival. Very clean and good quality furnishings and bedding etc. Great location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay and would not hesitate to recommend the apartment to others.
Had an amazing few days in Sidmouth. Finbarr made us feel very welcome in his wonderfully cosy, well equipped apartment that looks out over the sea. Arrived to wine and chocolates and cream tea which was a totally unexpected treat and much appreciated. Would certainly recommend and would book again. Thank you
The on line description of this property is totally correct. It is well equipped with superb views of the sea. All amenities are on hand. Sidmouth is such a super place. Finbarr is an excellent host responding to any issues very quickly. I would recommend this place to anyone.
What a awkward system getting the key from the safe and returning it when we left. The key holder had three lots of keys and the front had fallen off. Climb very wet steep steps to gain entry. The fire escape. Otherwise you have to walk round the block to gain entry at the front.
We did have a problem with the boiler . The flat was very cold . Finbarr sorted this out and an engineer was called. Finbarr offered us an extra day in the flat as compensation.
We left a day early as the back bedroom ,which we paid extra for, was bitterly cold even with radiator on. There is a large airvent in the room which made it very icy.I suggest Finbarr should try using the flat in the winter instead of checking it out in the summer. As he had stated in the guest book.
The position is excellent and we turned the couch to face the sea but the windows were filthy. We realise there must be sea spray but you couldn't see out of them.
The flat is big enough for two. Needs some paintwork and carpet cleaning. For the price it was ok.
Nice touch with the scones and wine. Beds comfy.

Dear Jenny,
Sorry to hear that you found a number of shortcomings during your stay in the Esplanade.
We appreciate the key safe can be a little crowded when all three apartment keys are in the safe. I will need to give consideration to installing a larger unit.
As you stated the rear single flight of stairs is the emergency exit and given the inclement weather you incurred I can see walking around to the front entrance would be a better proposition.
It was rather unfortunate that the pressure had dropped in the boiler especially as it had been serviced some 6 weeks before. Pleased to hear the engineer attended promptly to resolve the issue. However, disappointed to hear that the second bedroom heating was not functioning properly. I would have asked the boiler engineer to revisit if I had known and I apologise for any discomfort. We have stayed in the apartment in all seasons and it’s not something we have noticed during our many stays.
Finally the issue with sea spray during particularly inclement weather can sometimes cause an issue with the windows, especially being so close to the seafront. However, the windows are cleaned by contractors every second week to try and minimise any such problem .
Once again sincere apologies for the issues raised and hopefully they didn’t cause too great of a distraction from enjoying the town of Sidmouth.

An okay property for two people but four might find it a bit of a squeeze
Wonderful location.
On the whole we enjoyed it but we left a day early due to overly loud door slamming from the occupants in the apartment below us, which began at approximately 03.50am ,this continued at approximately 20 minute intervals until around 08.00, every day including Christmas Day.

Dear Suzy,
So sorry to hear about the disturbance you incurred, somewhat mystified as to the reason for the noise? It is a pity that you didn't let me know as I could have investigated the reason for the noise.
Once again please accept my apologies.
The property is in a lovely position and very cosy and comfortable. Just what we needed for a few days relaxation. Did not need to use the car as very close to shops and restaurants.
