This is the downstairs apartment of the owner's home and is well stocked and lovely to stay. We felt at home and there is a really great view of the mountains from the porch/living room windows. If you are staying in the Anchorage/Girdwood area, this is the place to stay.
The place was nice and comfortable. Downhill walk on grass was challenging when wet. Sometimes there was too much noise from the owners living above, including at 11:30 at night when it sounded like a running wash machine and dryer right above our bed. The road leading to this place is not the best.
Overall we enjoyed our stay but it is a very bumpy road with lots of pot holes to get to it. The website pictures are accurate. There is no stove. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked. You are in the lower unit with the owners upstairs. It was loud in the mornings and evenings having them upstairs. Beautiful views from the lower unit but there is a picture of the view from the upper deck on the website description. There was a lot of frozen food in the freezer which limited space.
The view is amazing and the house was nice and warm. Communication with the host was wonderful and they were quick to respond to any questions we had. The only downside was you could hear them above you but thankfully it didn't keep us awake. All and all it was a wonderful trip and they were great hosts. We didn't get to see any Moose as I write this but I'm hoping that we'll see some on the way out.
The host was very nice and fast at responding to questions. Overall it was clean. We were disappointed in the following: The living area was cluttered- there was personal items in all closets, bathroom and freezer. The listing stated there was an oven and stove top and there was neither. They had construction going on which is fine but we did not find about it until the day we were checking in so we could not change our plans without eating the cost since it was past the time we could get a refund if we canceled so we sucked it up and made the best of the noise. We also did not know the road was not in good condition to get there. It would also have been nice to know ahead of time. I just had surgery and this made travel very inconvenient and painful to get to and from the house.
We had a comfortable stay for 2 nights while we took a scenic glacier cruise. The view was beautiful!

The property we stayed at was wonderful. It was very clean and had all of the amenities needed while we spent some time in Anchorage. Highly recommend.
Was everything we needed. We stayed 2 nights. It was close enough to stores yet far enough away. We had great views and 2 bull moose on our drive to the cabin.
Perfect for what we wanted!
Property just as advertised. View amazing. Every day and night we were just stunned with the view and peacefulness of the location. Saw moose nearby as well, and was so easy to use this location as base to do day trips to Willow, Hatcher Pass and Kenai.
We stayed for a couple of nights and saw a moose on our drive there. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Anchorage airport, but without the noise and hustle. The last mile up to the cabin is a bit rough. Our host, Gary, was very pleasant and accommodating. We would definitely stay again.
We are from Fairbanks and came down to visit friends at the 1024 Arctic Thunder Air Show. Gary was an excellent host with a comfortable and clean Vrbo. It is in Bear Valley with a beautiful view of Cook Inlet. The view at night was spectacular with beautiful red lights emanating from Anchorage. Quiet and peaceful country neighborhood.

We had an excellent experience. Gary was awesome and very accommodating. I would definitely stay there again. Thanks so much. We had a wonderful time in Alaska
Cabin was a great place to stay centered in our day travel destinations. Gary and Laura we great host.
The puppies were fun and we had our last night at dusk a mama Moose and baby Calf at our deck.
Highly recommend this Vrbo stay with great views.
The views were spectacular and the location was great, but noise from upstairs was disrupting and we had to carefully watch where we stepped because the dogs had not been cleaned up after. However, when we couldn’t find a wine bottle opener our host was able to procure one quickly.
The view is spectacular and Gary was very friendly and responsive to our needs. We enjoyed our stay here. Most of the time we were there it was very peaceful and quiet. Could hear some noises from the owners upstairs on occasion - the TV and dog sounds (they recently had a new litter of puppies so that is not the norm) but overall very nice stay.
Our stay here was wonderful and exactly what we had hoped for. A bit of seclusion away from the main streets of Anchorage, the home gives you a fantastic view of the mountain and below - not to mention tons of moose along the roads as you drive in and out of the development. The home had everything we needed for a wonderful 3 nights. We hope to be back one day.

About the host

I am a Life long Alaskan. My family Homesteaded 160 acres in the Mat-Su Valley in 1959 where my father built a log cabin. In those days we lived a Subsistence Lifestyle and lived off the land by gardening, hunting and fishing. Today we use the cabin recreationally, but it still has no running water or plumbing. The Outhouse however has a historic quality about it being nearly 60 years old. :) I developed a passion for Alaska's hunting and fishing starting at age 6 and continuing to today. I am a husband of 1, a father of 2, and a Grandfather of 8, all living in Anchorage. :)
Why they chose this property
I grew up in a Log Cabin and always had an itch to build one so in 1999 I built the Eagles Nest. It took 10 months and I remember some cold days of building thru the middle of the winter and the Snowy Owls that would sit in a tree and hoot at me while I was working and a big Bull Moose that charged at me and broke the log railing on the front porch.
What makes this property unique
The views , the quite and the coziness.
