Great property outside of the hustle of Anchorage but close enough to access easily.Host was responsive and property is clean and ready for guest. We also got lucky enough to have a moose take a nap in the yard one night and were safely able to see it from the safety of our living room window.

Overall we enjoyed our stay but it is a very bumpy road with lots of pot holes to get to it. The website pictures are accurate. There is no stove. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was well stocked. You are in the lower unit with the owners upstairs. It was loud in the mornings and evenings having them upstairs. Beautiful views from the lower unit but there is a picture of the view from the upper deck on the website description. There was a lot of frozen food in the freezer which limited space.

Nice place.

Was everything we needed. We stayed 2 nights. It was close enough to stores yet far enough away. We had great views and 2 bull moose on our drive to the cabin. Perfect for what we wanted!

INCREDIBLE

Property just as advertised. View amazing. Every day and night we were just stunned with the view and peacefulness of the location. Saw moose nearby as well, and was so easy to use this location as base to do day trips to Willow, Hatcher Pass and Kenai.

superb for a few nights

Our stay here was wonderful and exactly what we had hoped for. A bit of seclusion away from the main streets of Anchorage, the home gives you a fantastic view of the mountain and below - not to mention tons of moose along the roads as you drive in and out of the development. The home had everything we needed for a wonderful 3 nights. We hope to be back one day.

Beautiful views but not peaceful

The views were spectacular and the location was great, but noise from upstairs was disrupting and we had to carefully watch where we stepped because the dogs had not been cleaned up after. However, when we couldn’t find a wine bottle opener our host was able to procure one quickly.

Alaska

The host was very nice and fast at responding to questions. Overall it was clean. We were disappointed in the following: The living area was cluttered- there was personal items in all closets, bathroom and freezer. The listing stated there was an oven and stove top and there was neither. They had construction going on which is fine but we did not find about it until the day we were checking in so we could not change our plans without eating the cost since it was past the time we could get a refund if we canceled so we sucked it up and made the best of the noise. We also did not know the road was not in good condition to get there. It would also have been nice to know ahead of time. I just had surgery and this made travel very inconvenient and painful to get to and from the house.

Ok but

Did not feel like a vrbo, food in house left in fridge/freezer open , personnel items left in bathroom, owners above making noise along with dogs, was thinking it would be a more of a quite stay

Gorgeous view and unique!

Loved our stay! Quiet, comfortable, georgeous montainous surroundings, and saw a moose walk through the yard. The apartment is in the lower level of cabin pictured so there is a flight of stairs to reach entrance. There were no laundry facilities. The road to reach the property is at least 1 1/2 miles of gravel and could be very difficult in wet/snowy weather. And was a lengthy 25 mile drive from the Anchorage airport and city center. But well worth the view. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating.

The Eagles Nest is about a 30-minute drive outside of Anchorage so guests need their own car to get there. All was fine and as advertised. Bonus was that the owners also breed dogs (kept very quiet at night). There were 7 adorable puppies romping around the yard while we were there -- very cute. The apartment itself is a bit cluttered and could use a bit more cleaning but was comfortable enough. Property owner seems very nice. I recommend the property.

This place could not be more perfectly located. It’s south of Anchorage, in the mountains, but within 10-15 minutes of grocery store and restaurants. The owners made an apartment, overlooking the mountains. There’s a back deck with a table and a gas grill, two comfortable bedrooms with room darkening blind (it’s light 19 hours in summer). We enjoyed repeatedly, seeing moose, and one even walked into our backyard the morning that we were leaving. It was clean, and the hosts were very responsive and gracious. Judy’s Cafe is the best breakfast place you will ever find (cash only). The drive south to Whittier was incredible, and we kayaked in the most beautiful scenery you could imagine. We drove north to Palmer, for white water rafting, and ziplining. This was the perfect place to stay for the vacation of a lifetime.

Overall this is a nice place to stay. The photo of this cabin is a little deceiving. It makes you think, that you are renting a cabin, but actually you are staying in an apartment underneath the cabin. The stairs getting to the apartment are quite steep, so if you have a lot of heavy luggage, this becomes a problem. Also, it is not as isolated as it looks in the photo. You are surrounded by other cabins from all directions. All this considered, it is a nice and clean place to rent.

The place was nice and comfortable. Downhill walk on grass was challenging when wet. Sometimes there was too much noise from the owners living above, including at 11:30 at night when it sounded like a running wash machine and dryer right above our bed. The road leading to this place is not the best.

The view is amazing and the house was nice and warm. Communication with the host was wonderful and they were quick to respond to any questions we had. The only downside was you could hear them above you but thankfully it didn't keep us awake. All and all it was a wonderful trip and they were great hosts. We didn't get to see any Moose as I write this but I'm hoping that we'll see some on the way out.

Great spot to stay in Anchorage

This is the downstairs apartment of the owner's home and is well stocked and lovely to stay. We felt at home and there is a really great view of the mountains from the porch/living room windows. If you are staying in the Anchorage/Girdwood area, this is the place to stay.

I am a Life long Alaskan. My family Homesteaded 160 acres in the Mat-Su Valley in 1959 where my father built a log cabin. In those days we lived a Subsistence Lifestyle and lived off the land by gardening, hunting and fishing. Today we use the cabin recreationally, but it still has no running water or plumbing. The Outhouse however has a historic quality about it being nearly 60 years old. :)
I developed a passion for Alaska's hunting and fishing starting at age 6 and continuing to today.
I am a husband of 1, a father of 2, and a Grandfather of 8, all living in Anchorage. :)

Why they chose this property

I grew up in a Log Cabin and always had an itch to build one so in 1999 I built the Eagles Nest. It took 10 months and I remember some cold days of building thru the middle of the winter and the Snowy Owls that would sit in a tree and hoot at me while I was working and a big Bull Moose that charged at me and broke the log railing on the front porch.

What makes this property unique

The views , the quite and the coziness.
