Lavender Cottage is ideally located in the picturesque village of Burley, within the New Forest National Park. It is the perfect base for exploring the local countryside by foot or bicycle, enjoying the beaches of Highcliffe and Mudeford less than 15 minutes away by car and visiting the local market town of Ringwood or the larger cities of Bournemouth and Southampton. Ponies and cattle roam around the village and frequently pass by the cottage.
The cottage is within very short walking distance of Burley's amenities including a choice of pubs, tea rooms, the village shop, a sweet emporium, stores selling locally produced fudge and cider, a beauty salon, a spa, a place to hire bicycles for all ages and gift shops, including one dedicated to Burley's long history of witchcraft. You will be able to learn more about this history, admire the many thatched cottages, spot herds of deer, attend the regular village events and craft fairs, visit the site of an Iron Age hill fort and look out at Burley Beacon, the supposed site of a dragon's lair.
Lavender Cottage sleeps six with two double bedrooms, both with views of the forest, and a twin bedroom all on the first floor, which also includes the bathroom with a bath/shower. The ground floor contains a work area with desk, a cloakroom and a living room with Smart TV, DVD player, with a range of DVDs and a selection of board games. There is also an open-plan dining/kitchen area with a fridge-freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, induction hob, gas-fuelled Aga and combination microwave/oven.
Patio doors lead out of the open-plan area onto a large outdoor patio space containing garden furniture and a dining table with chairs and lawn with a trampoline (used at guests' risk) and a summer house available for storage. There is parking for up to three cars on the driveway.
All bedding and towels are included, except beach towels.
WiFi is generally very good but subject to local weather conditions.
Pets are welcome and dogs will be warmly greeted in many of the local pubs.
