This Log Cabin has spectacular views, and was custom-built in 1994 from 150-year-old hand-notched Cypress logs (it was not made from a kit). It has hand-made cypress cabinetry; its decor includes many antiques and curios; and it sleeps up to 6. But there is plenty of room: the Log Cabin has three bedrooms (the ground-floor primary bedroom with a queen-size bed and luxury duvet, a second-floor bedroom with twin beds, and a second-floor loft bedroom with double bed), and there is also a queen sleeper-sofa for your convenience, along with two full bathrooms (one on each floor). We recently upgraded all beds with new luxury mattresses, for the coziest sleep ever.
Please be aware that our beloved Log Cabin was built in a traditional 1800s style, with several steps to enter the first floor, and a staircase to reach the second floor, so wheelchair-accessibility is not possible.
That said, don't let the country decor or antiques fool you. Every amenity is provided, including free WiFi, DIRECTV STREAM channels, Roku for streaming apps, Blu-Ray/DVD, linens, dishes, a fully equipped kitchen and dining room, washer and dryer, central heat and air and a warm gas-powered fireplace (for both beauty and heat).
Most everyone loves settling into a porch-swing or rocker to find deep serenity on the full-length/screened-in balcony overlooking the forest and nearby mountains, typically accompanied only by the soft sounds of wind in the trees and the birds of the forest. We see deer families visiting frequently below.
For dining out, there is a plethora of nearby restaurants ranging from fine dining to down-home country cookin'; and there is even a local whiskey distillery, with tours!
Nearby you will find Vogel State Park, the Appalachian Trail, and countless waterfalls, along with fishing, boating, kayaking, golf — and if you like whitewater, the cabin is almost directly between the Chattooga and Ocoee rivers. Sightseers will love nearby Helen, Georgia or a day trip to Cashiers-Highland, NC. The kids will delight in finding gold or gems in the mines which are a short and scenic drive away.
Although there are many activities nearby, most guests love the peaceful sanctuary that the Log Cabin is, in its secluded location on top of a mountain — yet still only a few minutes drive from Walmart and Blairsville’s Town Square. We very much enjoy welcoming our new and returning guests each year. Hopefully you will become one of our regular guests, too! You do not need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to ascend our mountain, but we ask that you use only a car, SUV, or truck to enter and exit our street and property. There is room for 4 cars, but unfortunately motorcycles are prohibited by our homeowners association. Please park only on-property, not along the street or right-of-way.
3-Night Minimum during weekends, and 2-Night Minimum on Monday through Thursday nights, excepting holidays and subject to availability. During “Peak Leaf Season” (mid-October through mid-November), the minimum stay is 4 or 5 nights. Rental is for the entire home, and includes the first two guests; for each additional guest it is $10 per person, per night. Check-in time is 3:30 p.m. and check-out time is 10:30 a.m. Please adhere to these times strictly, for the comfort and safety of all of our guests.
If you would like to bring one or two quiet, house-trained dogs that weigh less than 50 pounds each, you agree as follows: 1) to notify us of their breed and weight, 2) Dogs are not allowed on any furniture or off-property, 3) that your dogs must be leashed and that you allow them only on our property (not on or next to the street, or on the surrounding properties, 4) that your dogs are crated or secured on back porch if you are not there, 5) to walk dogs along the woods-edge away from the home to avoid offending anyone, 6) that you will NOT walk dogs along the pavement since it is not our property, and (7) that you are responsible to pay for damage/extra cleaning. Although we love cats, they are NEVER allowed.
We normally open bookings for each season on January 3rd of each year, and we *strongly* recommend booking as soon as possible thereafter, particularly for peak leaf season, holidays and weekends which typically sell out quickly. We do have a number of annual guests (and even some who book with us multiple times per year), and would welcome you to join that esteemed and appreciated set of folks who love our Log Cabin like we do...
By the way, our cleaning fee of $85 per stay goes 100% to our housekeeper, Amy; but you are always welcome to leave her something extra on the dinner table when you check out, should you so desire.
We are most grateful for all of our guests, and deeply appreciate sharing our unique Log Cabin with those who long for the authenticity and peace you will find there.
We hope you can stay with us!
