From Norfolk’s coastline, Norwich and The Broads to the north, the awe-inspiring Anglo-Saxon site at Sutton Hoo and the landscape that inspired Constable to the south; from Newmarket’s sport of Kings and Cambridge’s prestigious colleges and punting in the west, to Aldeburgh and the Suffolk coastline in the east, you will be spoiled for choice. Whether you are tempted by the celebrated wetlands at Minsmere, seal watching from Southwold, Ed Sheeran’s beloved Framlingham, or Bury St Edmunds with its 1,000 years of history and abundance of fine dining, you can be sure of a comfortable and peaceful retreat at the end of the day. The market town of Diss is just 5 miles away and offers amenities including a traditional market day, restaurants supermarkets and petrol stations.
The owner thoughtfully provides a detailed Welcome Pack with a wealth of ideas for your visit. The exterior of the barn is charming to behold, showcasing the rustic weatherboard timber that exudes character. You enter into an inviting ambience that seamlessly combines character with contemporary open-plan living, welcoming you with seasonal produce and flowers from the garden. Relax on the sofas where you can read or watch your favourite programme on the Smart TV. The kitchen is well equipped to prepare meals while chatting about plans for your stay. An elegant shower room with a spacious walk-in shower completes the ground floor. Two beautifully presented bedrooms with stunning beamed characters are located upstairs. On a warm day, both bedrooms have Juliet balconies to bring fresh air into the space. There is also a separate toilet on the first floor.
You will awake to a symphony of birdsong from the beautiful 2-acre landscaped gardens and wildflower meadow which the owners have been creating from bare fields since 2009. You have your south-facing terrace with seating plus a separate courtyard and cottage garden and are free to explore the wider gardens which open regularly for charity. Specifically designed to create a wildlife haven and thoughtfully planted to attract an abundance of wildlife, from honey bees to hares, turtle doves to owls and bats. With no light pollution and very little passing traffic, the peace and tranquillity along with the wildlife is the greatest distraction here.
