We had a wonderful time here.
We hiked on the public footpaths around Dormansland. Thanks to the local train station we were able to visit London three times. The house was so cozy that one day we just stayed home and enjoyed the day watching TV and relaxing.
We stayed in this house for 5 days. Danielle was very helpful. There was some hair from a dog on the floor, but the rest of the house was clean. Nice atmosphere!
This property feels like you are house sitting. Everything you expect and more was provided. Having travelled from London where the accommodation varied, this home was a relief to stay in. The only real problem for us was that my spouse is very tall so had to duck when using the stairs.

Nice charming house but not ready for paying customers
Nice charming house and they took my complaints seriously.
It was pretty dirty, smelly sofa, sticky floor and especially a dirty kitchen including the fridge. Still got that leftover bread in the freezer someone was complaining about in his reviews. Mentioned it to the manager and they send someone to clean it again. Didn't really make any differences.

Bracken property in Dormansland
Homely feel to the property. Good location.
The stay was like being in a friend's house while they are away: half-used bottles of sauce and pickle in the fridge etc. That's nice in a way, but several areas could be improved with little or no cost: a) no instructions on using heating, managing the rubbish etc b) no heating when we arrived - in October guests should have control of heating c) poor cleanliness, and dirty plates, mugs, table mats etc left in cupboards d) there are bedside lamps but no sockets to plug them into e) as far as I could see, there is no smoke/heat detector in the kitchen f) there is a leak of water into the cupboard under the sink. Overall, we had a nice break at Bracken, and we knew the accommodation would be simple because of the value price, but the matters above would make the property more attractive to future hirers.

Good location, could be a lovely place to stay.
Location. Kitchen well equipped once we found the cutlery in a cardboard box. Cleanliness. Nice area for dining in extension. With a little more thought, could be a lovely place.
Uncomfortable low settee, had to bring dining room chair in to lounge area to watch TV. No welcome book/instructions. Food left in fridge. Back bedroom had no bulbshade in main light, and no sockets by the bed. One of the Bedside lamps in front bedroom had no socket to put lamp in. Somebody's pizzas and pitta bread were left in freezer. It felt like someone was living there and had to leave quickly. Details said parking for 2 vehicles, however one of the spaces is taken up by a red car, which I assume belongs to the owner. It is such a shame, as with a few tweaks this would be a lovely cottage to stay in. Doors are quite stiff to open.
Could have so much potential but really put us off another return (sorry).
Cons-no main light in the back bedroom. Had to use bedside table light.-as in the photo there are a few Gauguin paintings of a naked ladies (not great for little ones).-in the second bedroom, the cupboard is full of the owners stuff so there is no where to hang anything.-stairs to the bedrooms are rather steep with floating stairs.-in the back garden there is a side light by the gate but the rest of the garden is in darkness, none of the solar lights work.-different levels of floor between the living room (low door height), kitchen, bathroom & a small step into each bedroom at the top of the stairs.-another trip hazard between the conservatory and the kitchen.-the front door doesn't have a key (certainly that we could find, we did find the key on top of the fridge to the old red car stuck on the drive) but worried that our only emergency exit was through the kitchen and into the conservatory. Even if we had found a key to the front door, both the sofa and lamp are far too close to the front door, that we'd never get through. The final issue was returning Wednesday afternoon to find a baliff letter stuck to the window of the conservatory door in the back garden. This really unsettled us as we didn't know whether they'd return. The back gate to the garden can't be locked as door and fence post are at different hights and the catch to open the gate is easily accessible either side for entry to the house. We felt really vulnerable.-We did email Vrbo who didn’t reply.
