We spend a wonderful week in the well appointed White Rose Cottage. Our hosts Paul and Caroline were lovely and the cottage was well equipped for self catering. We enjoyed the most lovely views of the grounds and it’s a fabulous location for touring around Sussex and neighbouring counties. The local pub is a short walk away and is popular so it’s best to book a table. We would definitely return to this property if the opportunity arose in the future.
We had a wonderful time in a charming and well-situated hollidaycottage. We had a warm welcome. For us all kind of food like jam, bread, milk etc. White rose cottage is a perfect stepping-stone to explore the region. Caroline and Paul are friendly and heartfelt hosts. We liked everything very much.
Lovely Place in the Countryside with a marvelous garden
White Rose Cottage is a very nice place for a holiday in the countryside with plenty things to see nearby. We enjoyed 9 days the very well equipped house. The garden is big and very nice. Our son (6) enjoyed the football-place and we even observed deers nearby the house. It is a quite place but many top sightseeing spots of Sussex are nearby, we visited Sheffield Garden and Park twice. There are plenty opportunities for hiking. The welcome and the service was very friendly, and we enjoyed tomatoes, potatoes, jam, eggs and apple juice direct from the farm. With a very good Pub some hundred meters away it was not even necessary to cook every evening, however the kitchen of white rose cottage has everything you need. Thanks to Caroline and her family for very enjoyable holidays.

White Rose Cottage and its beautiful surroundings
We had a very nice stay at "White Rose Cottage" because we felt very welcome and the cottage made us feel at home.
Everything seems to have been thought of, including all kinds of delicious natural things to spoil your inner. The setting of the cottage is beautiful with the garden and his wildlife, and the far reaching views. Caroline was always nearby and very helpfull wenn needed.
Central to a lot of attractions (apart from all the National Trust Places). Don't miss the well organized information about the area; very usefull!
We liked particulary the village of Lindfield; the Town Museum in East Grindstead and all the beautiful houses and cottages we straight past exploring the countryside.
In terms of cottage and owners highly recommended.

Thank you for such kind words. I am pleased you both had a fantastic time and so enjoyed the apples, pears, potatoes and flowers from our garden as well as the home-made jam. I am glad my recommendation for the museum was one of the highlights of your trip.
Cottage was very comfortable and clean. Ability to walk in grounds was a lovely touch. Caroline and Paul were very helpful. Lovely welcome food and drink. Highly recommend this cottage.
Lovely area to be in and nice owners. Property small but certainly has all you need. The garden is large and great that the owners let you go anywhere in the garden. The seat at the top of the lawn was a bonus in the evenings. Really enjoyed our stay,
We had a fantastic time in the house - it's equipped for everything you need, and more - the hosts have really thought about every tiny detail. They made us feel very welcome - with lots of extra thoughtful touches, like fresh fruit and vegetables, and a welcome food basket. They even found toys and books for our toddler to play with during our stay.
The house is set in stunning grounds - which we were free to roam - including a boating pond and fields with sheep.
Couldn't recommend high enough.
Accommodation and facilities excellant. Personal attention when being shown accommodation was appreciated. Local area excellant for walking with the cottage having plenty of information. Paul and Caroline provided an excellant and well appreciated food welcome hamper and own grown produce when we left. We will be seeing them and the cottage again. Ron and Joan
Spotlessly clean and very well equipped this charming cottage is set in a beautiful and tranquil location with good access to many places of interest. Our hosts were attentive but not intrusive and the welcome basket with local and home produce was a lovely touch. There were comprehensive instructions provided about the property, local facilities and places of interest, including the local vineyard. The property is comfortably set out and the Kitchen is well furnished for those who enjoy cooking. We found plenty to do during our stay and would happily return for another visit. There are lovely local walks, a nearby pub with good food and many quintessential English villages to explore as well as beautiful National Trust homes and gardens. We have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone - a delightful getaway.
We had such a wonderful time at White Rose Cottage. It was our first time away since the 1st lockdown started. The cottage was a lovely country getaway conveniently situated near all the places we wanted to visit and also with lovely gardens to walk in and great amenities. Paul and Caroline were great hosts. We totally recommend it as a place to stay.
Very high quality property in beautiful grounds and set in an area of beauty with a huge range of things to do.
The owners were very friendly, extremely helpful but not intrusive. Excellent info folder in the house and a very well equipped kitchen including the lovely touch of a foodie welcome pack.
Property was very clean on arrival.
All in all can’t fault it and would highly recommend for a relaxing break.
Perfect stay in an area of outstanding natural beauty
Hosted by the owners ,who remained on hand yet respecting our privacy, we were impressed by the layout of the accommodation and access to the garden where we spent many a happy hour experiencing the calm and birdsong of this unspoilt area of Sussex. The attention to details such as providing home made jam and fresh local eggs was a nice touch. The excellent pub 5 minutes walk up the road was the cherry on the cake. Great location for walks and well placed for visits to the south coast, local national trust properties and walks in the local area.
We had a lovely holiday in White Rose Cottage, Danehill. It was really well equipped and comfortable. The gardens and surrounding area are beautiful. There are many tourist attractions to explore. My husband and I stayed in the cottage and our son and his girlfriend who live in Brighton were able to visit. Caroline and Paul were very welcoming and provided some gorgeous food items as a welcome gift. We look forward to returning.
A lovely cottage in a quiet relaxing location owned by lovely people
Caroline and Paul truly go that extra mile to ensure that you have a super stay. From the welcome pack containing fresh items from their own land, to fresh flowers in the rooms. The cottage is beautifully presented and very comfortable. We loved sitting in the garden in the evenings watching the wildlife and farm animals. One evening whilst chatting to Paul, a deer walked along the garden fence. The cottage and main house sit in 9 acres of land that contain gardens, an orchard, a lake and fields. We loved sitting by the lake watching dragonflys hunting. There is a lovely pub, The Coach & Horses within an easy walk from the cottage that provide good traditional fare. If you are looking for a quiet comfortable and relaxing getaway you wont find a better.
We stayed for one week and had a fantastic quiet and relaxing holiday in this very spacious cottage, ideal for south coast and downs exploration.
We enjoyed all the extra things that were provided (fresh bread, apple juice, jam, eggs, garden veg, and a large bowl of fruit) which was a very nice thought.
The use of the ample garden was lovely and we enjoyed breakfast listening to the birds and sheep which made it very special.
A short walk up the hill is a very nice pub for a relaxing meal after a days walking.
Caroline and Paul thankyou for a very restful holiday.
Fantastic place. Very relaxing, you couldn't want for anything more.
We used a taxi service to drive us around all week. However, we used buses to go into town. It was great. There is nothing more to say. If you need to relax come here.
The property is super super clean, fully equipped and extremely peaceful. Caroline and her husband very warmly welcomed us with food, very good jam and extremely tasty home grown vegetables from their own gardens. The property and extensive gardens are exceptionally beautiful ( I do not think that the English countryside can be any better than this heaven on earth). We fully recommend this property.
All aspects of property well thought out and organised . One of the best we have stayed in over the years, and there have been a few.
Thoroughly recommended.
What a great experience!
Such a lovely place and very nice people. Spend a week here. Had a wonderful time.
At arrival there where several welcoming gifts (eggs, bread, apple juice, home made jam, flowers etc etc).
Thanks very much!
A car, or friends/family to do the runs, as we did, is essential. Unless you are good walkers.
We were three adults and found the accommodation excellent. Everything we needed to know was efficiently documented. Also very well equipped. Housekeeping definitely 5*+, and added to this the wonderful touches of local produce in our welcome pack we're very much appreciated. The use of the outside space was a bonus.
Excellent and comfortable place to explore the south-east of England.
Very well appointed cottage in lovely gardens and countryside.

About the host
Hosted by Caroline Chaplin
We moved our family to this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in summer 2015 after 15 years living in London. We have settled very quickly into village life.
Why they chose this property
Our idyllic location allows daily commuting to London in just over 1 hour but a restful time at home, enjoying generally very good weather (different to my native Scotland!) and the stunning rural setting of a wooded valley.
What makes this property unique
Our home, Avenings Farm and White Rose Cottage next door are set in more than 9 acres of land, allowing us the space to grow our own fruit and vegetables and a local farmer to keep his sheep in our field. We also have a rowing boat which can be used on our small lake and an enclosed (to keep the sheep out!) 5-a-side football pitch with goals.
