This cottage is beautiful from top to bottom, spotlessly clean and furnished to a very high standard. We can’t recommend it enough. We will definitely be returning.
Lovely home within walking distance of central Ambleside and hiking trails. Great hiking very nearby home. Very clean - very well outfitted to be able to cook meals. Wifi also worked well. Highly recommend - you won’t be disappointed
Great value, a perfect location for myself and my family. We are all fit adults and so the small incline walk from town to the property was not a problem. The house had plenty of room and the two big bathrooms were perfect for us. Great value for money - will stay again. Plus met the really lovely cleaning lady our departure. Thank you.
Not the easiest location to find (google maps problem?)and the place wasn’t ready for us, but once all was sorted, it was a great property to base our outdoor hikes and adventures. Super responsive property manager and a very enjoyable stay. Nice patio for wine and cheese, quiet (except for the RAF jets) and very well equipped. Would recommend to friends.

Hit and miss
The property is nice and overall well presented . Difficult to find, the directions could be a little clearer.
As of 6 pm the night before check in we had not received check in directions so we stopped in at the hosts hotel as we were next door to it for dinner that evening. We were told the host was on holiday but They contacted her and we got our check in info about an hour later.
On arrival at the property the next day we had a problem with the freezer not working ( it took my husband and I 30 minutes to clear all the ice out) and the back door not unlocking. We messaged the host but heard nothing. I messaged again the following day and someone came the day after that to look at the door lock. We were still having problems with it and our next message regarding this went completely unanswered and we never heard from the host again. She had told me she was on vacation and did not have good service but someone should have been available to help us. I finally had my nephew come and sort the lock out but even he had trouble with it
. We had called the number provided in the book but that company told us they no longer represent the place we were in so the book was out of date
A few minor things like no wastebaskets in the upstairs bedrooms or bathrooms. No soap in master bathroom. Broken tap in bathroom. The walk to town was down hill but the return is up a very steep hill. Main problem was no communication as all of these small things could have been resolved easily

About the host
Hosted by Kate Hustler
Hello, I have been holiday letting in the Lake District for 14 years and I also own the Grasmere Hotel. I make every effort for your stay to be as comfortable and clean as possible. I live close by, so if there is anything you need or have, or have any queries, I am quickly available.
Why they chose this property
I chose this area is it is stunning and has something for everyone. Great walking, water sports and boat tours, a wealth of fine restaurants and shops. It has literary connections, such as Beatrix potter, Coleridge, Wordsworth and Ruskin. It has an array of beautiful gardens and castles to visit.
What makes this property unique
It has only recently been refurbished and has huge bathrooms and showers. You can climb Wansfell from the doorstep. It is quiet yet not remote with easy access to the amenities of Ambleside.
