Super clean/comfortable house with a great view and a great host!
Family of 7 visited Homer (what a beautiful place!) for the first time, we are lucky to stay at Leah's house which fits our party comfortably. Nice furnishing and utensils too, Leah is very responsive to our needs and provided a lot of advice on what to do. We highly appreciate the salmon she shared with us so fresh, which her family caught very recently. You could see eagles at a very close distance since the family feed them regularly.
We enjoy our stay very much and would highly recommend it to others.

Thank you, Hong, for such a great review. We do have a special place and you certainly took care of it as it was your own. You are a 5 star renter!
We had an amazing stay! The views of the mountains, K-Bay, and the Homer spit were incredible on clear days. The owners were super friendly, very accomodating, and made us feel like family. We stayed for an extended period of time, and the rooms were great for up to four adults and two kids: two separate bedrooms (each with two beds), two full bathrooms, a large living room, and a small but fully working kitchen in case you don’t want to go out to eat every night. It takes about 15-20 minutes to drive down the hill and get to the Homer Spit, but the views from up the hill were incredible. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you!!!

It was a pleasure having your family stay here. You were the perfect long term guests. Thanks for all your kind words too! You are welcome anytime.
This property was wonderful for our family. The property was quiet, open and the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. Our daughter love the trampoline and other activities out on the vast, well groomed yard.
We appreciated having lots of bed space for us and even were able to have a place for a friend that visited one night.
The property is a little ways up the hill from town, but everything is so close in Homer. The distance made for a relaxing environment and fantastic view.
Highly recommended!

About the host
Hosted by Leah Handley
Bob and Leah designed and built this home in 1999 for Bed and Breakfast. After running the business for a decade they took a hiatus to get their kids through school. Now with grandchildren around they are opening their home and heart to travelers again. They offer warm hospitality and easy atmosphere. Bob is a true Alaskan Sourdough having been in the state since he was 4. Leah is a transplant from Colorado who loves to pick berries and play in the kitchen. The family lives in the upstairs portion of this home and is available for the guest needs. Running a hospitality business comes naturally for them and some of their best family friends began as customers.
Why they chose this property
We love Homer. When we lived north of here we would come down for the weekends just for church! This property was a simple hillside when we bought it. After beginning dirt work we noticed that the Fiddlehead ferns would be crushed one day and begin sprouting the next. Fernwood Estates was named for these beautiful and indomitable plants. It has been a labor of love to build this place from the dirt up but it has been worth it. The setting is perfect.
What makes this property unique
The view fills my heart with joy. What an incredible privilege to wake up to it each morning. On top of that, we have some rather large birds that have claimed our house as their own. Seeing a bald eagle perched on the rooftop is the norm. Other wild animals like moose are frequent travelers through the yard. We love the house. We designed it, built it, maintain it. The radiant floor heating is wonderful. The best feature is the many windows letting nature come in.
