This property is located ion a beautiful hillside location overlooking Homer. Very private and quiet. Jason, the host was welcoming and easy to communicate with.
This place was in a perfect location and the view was incredible. It was very clean and in excellent shape. All the beds were comfortable, and the recliner & couch reclined. The host was very friendly and understanding. Highly recommend :)
Perfection in paradise does not begin to describe this beautiful home in this gorgeous location. Minutes from the Homer Spit yet secluded in the mountains overlooking the gorgeous scenery of the Homer Spit with the mountain backdrop. We stayed in the Otters Den and Lazy Moose. Super clean and comfortable with anything you could need. Beautiful outdoor deck with grill offered excellent space for our group to relax. The washer dryer was great with easy access in a room between two units. Great kitchen with all supplies available. Great parking. Excellent hosts with easy communication. Five stars all the way around. Thanks for sharing your perfect place in paradise with us! We loved it!
We had a lovely time in Homer and the Otters Den was perfect spot to stay. The communication with the owner was wonderful and they were very helpful and accommodating too. We would love to stay here again in the future.
Beautiful property and Jason was a great host! Great spot for a family with a dog! My Lizzie moved it, as did our family! Beds were excellent!!! Will definitely book again!
They allow dogs, which is cool. They have dogs that roam around which isn’t that cool because the mastic isn’t very friendly. Otherwise it was a great spot and a great location.
My family (which includes two dogs) loved staying here. The unit was clean and inviting, and we had everything we needed to get settled in. A nice bonus that isn't pictured is that they have a Keurig for coffee. They also have a new partially covered deck that is for the upstairs unit, and the deck in the picture is for the downstairs unit. Some previous reviews mention the stairs being steep. From what I could tell, they fixed that issue with the addition of the new deck and staircase. It was no steeper than a standard staircase. The yard was expansive, and our dogs loved playing in it. The hosts were very friendly, responsive, and welcoming. I absolutely recommend this unit for a family getaway in Homer.
Great place to stay, be aware there are very steep steps in/out as it is on the second floor. Not suitable for someone who has any mobility or balance issues. The view isgreat
Wonderful place to stay in Homer. Location was gorgeous, you can see the spit from their front windows. The house was well maintained and furnished. The owner was very responsive and friendly. Having grown up in anchorage and having been to Homer hundreds of times, this place is on the top of my list. Their effort to make a beautiful place for guests is well shown. We thank them again!
Excellent choice for us. We enjoyed our time in Homer and staying at the Otter’s Den made it even more memorable. Morning moose visits and awesome views are some of the highlights. Our boys loved the e-mountain bikes. Thanks to both our hosts Jason and Teena for making our stay more enjoyable.
Beautiful, extremely clean property. We were on the upper level of the cabin with great views. Cabin had everything you could need or want during your stay. Beds were extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. We had 4 adults and 2 teenagers in there. Hosts were extremely responsive and accommodating. They went above and beyond helping us find a last minute fishing charter when the one we had was cancelled due to mechanical issues. Also loved that there was a washer & dryer available, very much needed after a day out on a fishing charter! I would definitely rent here again if we get back to the Homer area!
We came down from Anchorage to XC ski Homer’s fun trails and had a great “get away” experience. The Otter’s Den was perfect for a couple and would work for a small family with older children or a teenager. Nice views, a great well-equipped kitchen, and quiet! We appreciated being a little more removed from the road noise of town while still being 5-15 mins from most of our destinations/restaurants/brewery/art shops, etc. The bed was comfortable and the larger entry area that had a real closet and contained all our outdoor gear in one place was a surprise gift. The space was clean and contemporary and had plenty of outlets which we often find lacking in vacation rentals. This place would be great for two families to share in the summer (the upper/lower unit) with a large yard and nice lower deck to hang out on. The only downside was it takes a while for the hot water to get hot in the shower-but once it does, it’s enough. We will consider the Otter’s Den for future Homer adventures and recommend to friends. Overall, one of the best Homer rentals we’ve tried over the years!
Owner has two agressive dogs who are allowed off leash. One dog charged my leashed dog upon arrival (I had to lift my dog by the collar to get him out of range). Owner apologized saying she had thought dog was contained in her porch and it wouldn’t happen again. Loading the car the next morning, this dog and another one ran at me and my dog again, second dog jumped on me scratching my shin and planting his front paws between my shoulder blades as I again had to lift my 6# dog out of range. Owner ran out, apologized, said this was unacceptable and she’d remove the dogs for the weekend. At bedtime that night, I got a message that they’d been unable to remove their dogs from the property and planned to let them out if my dog wasn’t out. This property has NO business being advertised as pet-friendly. Their dogs are aggressive to other dogs (all of their behavior was directed at my small, leashed dog, they ignored my 3 yo grandchild) and after it had happened TWICE in 24 hours, they still did not plan to keep their dogs confined.I’ve rented dozens of times in multiple countries and have never written a negative review before. General facilities were fine. Cleaning was B- at best: used tissues under a recliner in living room and dust bunnies under a bed (3 yo crawled under). Only dishwashing implement was a very used sponge so we washed with paper towels. Also be aware of drain cleaner and bear spray in low, open cupboards if you have kids.
