About this property

Cosy and comfortable Riverside Cottage in Wroxham, the Gateway to the Broads

Bure Cottage is located in the exclusive Peninsular Marina by the banks of the River Bure at Wroxham, known as the gateway to the Broads. The cosy and comfortable self-catering cottage is south facing with views from the lounge onto the Marina, River Bure and beyond.

The double glazed cottage is suitable for breaks at all times of the year. It sleeps four with beds made up on the morning of arrival. The price includes electricity, heating, hot water, wi-fi and bed linen, towels and everything you would expect from a well-established self-catering cottage.

Weekly rental is Saturday-to-Saturday. Off-season short breaks of three nights or more are also available.

Enjoy the tranquil lawned waterside frontage from the outside seating area where you can watch swans, geese and ducks going about their daily lives. Herons can also be seen. In the evening, unwind with a bottle of wine while gazing at the wildlife and boating activity on the water.

Fishing is available anywhere on-site during the season. Watch boats chug by, hire your own - or take a river cruise on one of the many trips among Britain's largest protected wetlands. Magical waterways and broads dotted with quaint unspoilt villages, windmills and old riverside pubs to explore. It is a paradise for nature lovers.

The famous 400-year-old Wroxham Bridge and village centre is just a 5 minute stroll away with pubs, restaurants, fish & chips, cafes, a launderette, the famous Roy's superstores, McDonald's and two railway stations. One is on the mainline to Norwich and Yarmouth, and the other is the narrow-gauge Bure Valley steam railway to Aylsham.

There is so much to see and do being close to the beaches of Great Yarmouth and the North Norfolk coast. The historical city of Norwich is just a 30 minute bus ride or a short train ride away. Top attractions include BeWILDerwood, Blickling Estate, Felbrigg Hall, seal spotting at Blakeney Point, Norwich Castle and Cathedral and many other historical sites.

The minor cosmetic improvements necessitated by the normal wear and tear of a very popular holiday property do not detract from the enjoyable experience of holidaying in this lovely part of the country , with the river on your doorstep and the convenience of being close to Wroxham with all its amenities.

NOTE: Bookings paid through VRBO can only be accepted more than 48-hours before arrival.

About the host

My grandparents used to live in Catfield, a small village a few miles east of Wroxham and we used to stay with them during school holidays and any other times we could escape there.. Later on my parents owned a holiday home on the River Thurne at Potter Heigham which we would visit for holidays all year round whenever we could find the time. We therefore know the area very well and owning a lovely property like Bure Cottage has finally fulfilled my dreams.

Why they chose this property

Wroxham is the perfect place for a getaway in the UK. Home to many shops, bars, restaurants and cafes, it is a lively town buzzing with energy. Life revolves around the river with private boat hire available as well as a number of organised river cruises where you can spot a huge range of aquatic wildlife including swans, a variety of geese and duck species, herons, cormorants and occasionally otters. Once you have experienced this magical location like this, you will want to keep on returning.
