About this property

Traditional Country Farmhouse, Incredible Setting Next to Blue Ridge Parkway

This property is newly painted and renovated and has been in my family for 150 years. The farmhouse has modern updates including Roku TV and wifi to go along with traditional touches like a beautiful private setting and family antiques inside. The water is the best water you will ever taste coming right out of the 250 acre mountain that is part of this property. There is a pond and lots of options for a country stroll. Bring your fishing rod and can of corn or worms.
The beautiful 1/4 mile driveway for the property is one of the few that is directly off the Blue Ridge Parkway(For those of you familiar with the area the driveway is directly across the Parkway from Miller's Campground). This section of the Parkway is peaceful and gorgeous in every season, filled with wild flowers and birds in spring, summer, with stunning color in the fall, and spare, contemplative beauty in winter.
This property is 25 minutes from West Jefferson which is known for its art galleries and crafts, pubs and restaurants. Mt. Jefferson state park is there. It is 25 minutes from Wilkesboro and Merlefest. A little further up the Parkway are Boone and Blowing Rock, skiing, restaurants, shopping, and views, views, views. The New River is 20 minutes away with outfitters for canoeing and tubing. There is no better climate on the east coast during the summer than in these mountains.
This section of the Parkway is very popular with bicyclists. The Mountains To Sea Trail passes through here as well.
The Vacation Rental is the main house downstairs. Upstairs is an apartment occupied by a property manager.
My wife, Jenny, and I, have a vrbo property in Asheville where we live that we have been renting for years. Check out our reviews there, VRBO 427206. You will fall in love with Parkway Country House.
There is A/C in the bedrooms. The rest of the house is cooled by the fresh mountain air.

Perfect Getaway

My husband and I along with our dog enjoyed every minute at this beautiful mountain home. The property was amazing with gorgeous views, awesome hikes, and many shady spots to relax and recharge. The location is perfect for cycling on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Best of all, the house was equipped with everything needed. We loved our stay and would highly recommend renting this lovely place!

Beautiful

The property is beautiful and I could stay there in that surrounding forever. The house is as the pictures show online and the pond is bigger than I thought. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Privacy Off The Parkway

The property met, if not exceeded, all of our expectations. It has a beautiful, albeit slightly remote, setting and is spacious inside. Two of our grandchildren stayed with us one of the four nights we were there. It is an all-around winner and there is no hesitation in the "5" ratings given for each category. Marshall Stark

Great Stay - needs some appliance repair

We LOVE this house - this was our second stay...but the oven wasn't working and we were there for Thanksgiving - that put a damper on things... Also - the pond used to be stocked...not so much anymore - my son was disappointed in this as he was looking forward to fishing. New King bed - very comfortable! Remodeling still going on - so I am sure it will continue to be updated and amazing! Overall had a GREAT trip and will be back!

What more could you need?

This is an absolutely beautiful property where the options of things to do seems endless. We enjoyed activities varying from sitting quietly and listening to the creek while watching the plentiful wildlife around the pond or on the grassy hillside, to easy and moderate hiking and cycling on the property, nearby trails, and on the Parkway. We also enjoyed visiting to of a number of lovely small towns nearby with interesting shops and restaurants. We also enjoyed meals easily prepared in the large kitchen of the house and well as grilling out and dining on the outdoor patio. The whole house is roomy and comfortable and even in the summer can be open to allow in the refreshing cool mountain breezes. We will definitely be back.

Great week!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were every bit as nice as advertised. Location was easy to find but is definitely secluded along the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.

A great home in the beautiful mountains

We spent the entire month of June at the Parkway house. The house is spacious and has all of the attributes one would want not to mention being perfectly positioned just off the Blue Ridge Parkway to explore the gorgeous mountains. We'll go back!

Nestled in a Hollow...

Our visit was so peaceful and wonderful! What a lovely home! We heard wild turkeys goobling up the hill from the house as well as coyotes howling during the night (in the distance). It was thrilling to be surrounded by so much life. The house was charming. My husband kept saying, "I could definitely live here!" The antiques were beautiful and the portrait of an ancestor from the 1800's watched over us at the dinner table each night. Everything worked great. We never needed to speak with the owners. Luckily we did get to meet the family member who lives upstairs and she is charming and answered many of our questions about the history of this home. What an idyllic place to vacation! Thank you so much for offering us a very clean and welcoming home to visit! We definitely want to come back here and highly recommend it!

Scenic & Relaxing Blue Ridge Getaway

Enjoyed the spacious living areas nestled in the valley!. Grilled out on the patio and then gathered for a fire by the pond. Appreciated the convenience to several hiking trails including the Mountains-to-Sea trail close to the property. It is a great location for biking the Blue Ridge Parkway. The hosts were very helpful with suggestions for adventures in Laurel Springs and along the Blue Ridge!

Breathtakingly beautiful location

The drive to the house is literally immediately off the Blue Ridge Parkway, and the setting is just perfect. I loved sitting beside the large pond and on the outdoor patio enjoying the peaceful view. There are plenty of walks and hikes nearby. The Parkway is also great for biking. Inside, the house is just right too. Lots of room to settle in and spread out. The kitchen is well equipped. In the large room there's even a piano and antique pump organ. And if you're there on a clear night, make sure to go outside to enjoy the incredible night sky!
