Baker's Cottage - Relax in this quiet mountain cottage by the creek.
Whether you are looking for a couples' get-a-way or a place for the family to stay, Baker's Cottage is the perfect place to kick back and take a break from the hustle and bustle of life. We have a covered front porch for you to sit and relax while you enjoy your morning coffee. The sunroom and back deck offer a nice view of the spacious backyard and where you can listen to the peaceful sounds from the babbling creek. The backyard and creek are a great place to take a stroll, play games, cool off in the water, catch fireflies, or roast marshmallows while gathered around the fire. A gazebo overlooks the creek and cottage offering a place to play games or just sit and relax. The cottage is just a short 2 minute walk from the New River and only a 15 minute drive to the town of West Jefferson where you can find food, shopping, Mt. Jefferson State Park, and Ashe County Cheese. Various river outfitters are close by (10-15 minutes away) where you can rent tubes, canoes, or kayaks. Looking for a day trip during your stay: Grayson Highlands Park, Virginia Creeper Trail, Appalachian State University, Stone Mountain State Park, Tweetsie Railroad, and various ski resorts are all less than an hour away. The original portion of Baker's Cottage was built in 1935. It has unique characteristics that make it a one of a kind. Most of the ceilings in the house are low, between 6'10" and 7' high. Taller individuals may need to duck when walking through doorways. Please note because of it’s size our cottage doesn’t have a dishwasher or washer & dryer.

One of my favorite rentals ever. Property is exactly as described, clean, quiet and peaceful. Yard is phenomenal and the home has everything you need. Will be my go to for future NC trips.
The coziness of the cottage and the view. The host had a card and cinnamon rolls for our stay. What a great addition. It had everything we needed. Our dog loved the grounds as well..
The Cottage was so cute and the host made us feel really welcomed with Muffins and Brownies. It was cold weather and they had the heater's on so it was nice and cozy also. We will recommend this cottage to all of our friends.
This a very well kept clean cabin and it is quiet and relaxing. We love the little stream that runs under the deck and can be seen & heard from the sunroom. It’s a beautiful setting & not far from downtown West Jefferson.
Loved this place....It is small but perfect for us! The owner was very responsive. Loved the outdoor space with the spring in the back. The water sounds were so calming, wish I could have spent all day out there.
Everything about this stay was five stars! The hosts had left treats for our arrival and the house was so clean and cozy! We were there on a cold weekend and we stayed so warm and toasty. My 78 year old mom was so grateful for that! We wish we could’ve enjoyed the beautiful outdoor areas, but it was a little too chilly. We look forward to staying here more in the future and have already recommended it to friends! It’s even better than pictured/described!
It's peaceful, inviting and comfortable. The sunroom is the best. The creek running thru the back yard is calming. There are so many areas outside where you can sit and read a book or watch the birds and enjoy nature. The hosts respond quickly.
We’ve stayed here twice now, and it has truly become a favorite for our family. Highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable vacation.
Mom & I LOVED this place! It was very clean. As others have noted, the ceilings are very low and the beds are firm - but neither was a problem for us. I actually don’t think photos do this place justice - it is so cute and we loved that it was decorated for the season. The owners obviously love this place and take great care of it. It is a 15 minute drive to town, but we loved the quiet and look forward to another visit!
Baker’s cottage is lovely, quiet, clean and out of the way but close enough to necessities. We have enjoyed our stays there & hope to do so again. Hosts are very kind & quick to respond to questions.
This is the perfect place for a getaway where you just want to relax and unwind. Once you hear that creek, relaxation kicks in. There are so many places to sit outside and inside to read a good book or just sit and enjoy the sounds and beauty of nature.
Quaint little cabin. Nicely appointed. Quiet surroundings save for the creek that runs through the property, and that was a real cool plus. Enjoyed our stay.
This little cottage exceeded my expectations. Cozy, clean, calm. Loved the little creek and the location. Close proximity to numerous places to hike and return to settle in and relax. I hope to return to this little piece of heaven.
Very happy there, loved listening to the creek close to the home, We are definitely will be staying there again! Thank you for sharing your home with us
