About this property
The Byre Cottage, perfect peace, yet 25 mins by train to Edinburgh, beach 9 mins
The Byre Cottage in East Lothian, Scotland, is a charming 18th-century property that once formed part of the Newmains farm. Nestled in a peaceful rural setting, the cottage is surrounded by lush farmlands, offering a serene escape. Despite its historic origins, the cottage has been thoughtfully converted into a cozy and comfortable self-catering retreat, retaining much of its original character and rustic charm. Its tranquil location is complemented by its proximity to Drem railway station, which is just a 2 minute drive or 15 min walk away. The station has free parking and Edinburgh and all Scotland's capital has to offer is 25 mins away. North Berwick , voted Scotland's best place to live is 10 mins away by car. The coastal beaches of East Lothian are lovely, quiet and offer spectacular scenery. Visit Bass Rock, walk the coastal paths, play on championship gold courses and return to the peace of the cottage. Its a wonderful family holiday base, plenty for young and old, we love living here and we're happy to share ideas with you to create the perfect holiday.
The beds in the cottage are super king and the second bedroom, usually set up as twin can be zip and linked to provide 2 large bedrooms if preferred.
The west facing patio offers a wonderful spot to enjoy a relaxing morning coffee or sundowners after an active day. There are country walks from the doorstep offering views of the coastline and Bass rock and Fife in the distance.
The wood burning stove heats up quickly and provides a cosy, atmospheric environment, logs are provided.
