Our little cottage was built in 1792 and made from solid stone. If you want to step back in time in a traditional built cosy and quirky cottage then this would be ideal, however, if you want mod-cons you may want to give it a miss. The cottage is entered up stone steps and the door leads directly into a small sitting room. This is heated via a night storage heater and an open fire. There is plenty of seating for four people and the gate leg table opens out to seat 4, using 4 small stools for seating. The small kitchen is directly off of this room and includes an oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher. At the back a small door leads to, what was, the outside toilet. There are two staircases from the sitting room, both are steep, so our cottage may not be suitable for young children or the infirm, it would have to be at your own risk. The steep ladder staircase leads down to the lower ground floor twin bedded room. Two twin beds and a night storage heater. A small glass door opens to the passage outside which leads to the front of the property and the small shared garden at the back. The other staircase from the sitting room leads up to the master bedroom. This is a fabulous room with two beautiful Georgian windows to the front, a double bed, chest of drawers and dressing table. Stairs lead up from this bedroom to the bathroom on the very top floor with glimpses of the sea from the window. Sink, loo and shower are found here. Although, there is a bath, it is only used as a shower tray as our tank does not hold enough hot water to fill it.
The cottage is situated in the oldest part of Swanage and although we do not have allocated parking, there is a small parking area just opposite which normally has spaces. Once the car is parked, it is an easy walk into town. Swanage is a vibrant little seaside town and is wonderful all year round. The beautiful sandy beach in the summer and the wonderful walks and cosy pubs in the winter. The Swanage steam train is a great trip out and can be caught to Corfe Castle. You can also catch the open top bus to Bournemouth or the boat to Poole during the summer season.
PLEASE NOTE THAT FROM END OF OCTOBER UNTIL 1ST MARCH WE ONLY ACCEPT BOOKINGS FOR TWO PEOPLE AS THE TWIN BEDROOM WILL BE OUT OF USE.
