Situated in the conservation village of Rock, The Fold is a beautiful holiday let nestled between the Northumberland coast and the market town of Alnwick. This traditional style, Northumbrian stone house is ideally located for a peaceful, rural escape whilst not being too far from some of the major attractions including Alnwick’s famous ‘Harry Potter’ castle and contemporary gardens. Sleeping up to eight guests, The Fold is perfect for families and groups of friends looking for a getaway in the heart of Northumberland.
The Space:
The Fold is one of only ten properties to be given special permission to be built in this quiet conservation area estate village on the site of the former Home Farm steading, between the village cricket ground and the mill pond. Built-in traditional Northumbrian style with local stone, it mixes the solidity of times gone by with a superior contemporary internal finish. It is set amongst similar newly built properties and conversions of the Blacksmith's, The Old Sawmill, and Joiner's Shop, all part of the original Home Farm site.
The open plan living and dining area is the perfect place to retreat to after a day of exploring. Fire up the real wood burner for cosy evenings in. In the summer months, the French doors to the rear open out to the property’s large garden. Children will love the swings and Wendy house, while the adults can relax and take in the distant sea views.
Double doors from the dining area lead through to the fully equipped kitchen which features modern amenities, cookware and crockery. Perfect for preparing home cooked meals during your stay, you'll have everything you could need. From the kitchen, there is a separate utility room. Also downstairs is a cloak room, along with a shower room with a WC and wash basin.
The Fold also has a separate snug room with a TV which is perfect for families holidaying together.
Head up to the first floor and you’ll find the master bedroom with a king-size bed and ensuite shower room. The second bedroom is versatile with a zip/link twin or super-king size bed (please state at the time of booking how you would like this room to be made up). The third bedroom has a king-sized bed, and the fourth bedroom has two single beds that are more suited to children.
Completing the first-floor layout is a cosy family bathroom with bath and overhead shower.

Beautiful property, clean and immaculate with more essentials than we needed!. Lots of space for us all and plenty of bedrooms. Lovely garden and view of the distant sea.Downstairs shower tray may need some attention as not draining away very well.....otherwise all excellent!

Thank you so much for your kind review! We're really pleased to hear you found the property clean, spacious, and well-equipped — and that you enjoyed the garden and sea view too.
We also appreciate you flagging the issue with the downstairs shower tray. We’ve passed this on to our maintenance team to get it sorted promptly.
It was a pleasure to host you, and we’d love to welcome you back again in the future!
The property itself was lovely however the 24/7 customer service from Host and Stay was none existent. We arrived for a 2 night stay on the hottest days of the year. All 4 bedrooms were occupied and no fans to access. The place was HOT!! Called the support number who promised to call owners to resolve but nothing done. No sleep for anyone until 4am ish when it cooled down naturally. Called the next day, unable to get through so left a message and no reply or action. Second night the same. So very disappointed with the customer support and as lovely as the property was our whole experience was ruined with the lack of provision for severe heat.
Had the most amazing family holiday at this gorgeous cottage. Family of 3 generations with a furry family member also. Check in process was easy, everything emailed with an online welcome book to find all the required information for the property. The home was spotless, plenty of hot water, nice and warm. Every amenity required, even an air fryer. There is a coffee maker, but didn’t use it, a pod one easier to use would be only thing I’d maybe change. The beds were super comfy, had a great nights sleep every night. We loved the log burner and sitting around playing games in front of it in the evening. A big hit with the children was the garden, they loved been able to get out and play. We had lambs in the field behind the garden which were a joy to watch playing. The property is in a little peaceful hamlet, you can walk to the rocking horse cafe about 30 mins which serve amazing coffee. The other direction can walk to The Horseshoe Inn pub about 30 mins again, lovely pub with amazing food (recommend the fish pie) and super helpful staff. The communication from the hosts has been fantastic, we’ve stayed with many and this is by far the best. We will definitely be returning to this property, thank you for having us at your beautiful home.
