Varley House is a traditional 17th Century Suffolk longhouse providing comfortable, family accommodation for up to10 people. It is situated in the historic market town of Saxmundham, an ideal location from which to explore Suffolk and its heritage coastline. Within a short walk of shops, restaurants, pubs, supermarkets, a children’s adventure playground and a railway station, it is perfect for large families and groups wanting to celebrate and get away together.
Steeped in character, Varley House is grade 2-listed with period features that include beamed walls and ceilings, an impressive inglenook fireplace with a wood burner in the living room, a curved ‘Queen Ann’ staircase, high-ceiling Georgian bedrooms and a spacious sitting room where there is a piano. The kitchen is very well-equipped and there is a rear enclosed lawned garden, perfect for al fresco dining. The property has two staircases each of which service the upstairs bedrooms. The main, sweeping staircase leads up from the living room and a further winding staircase leads off the kitchen. The fifth twin bedroom is on the ground floor as is the second bathroom.
Saxmundham is within easy reach of the popular coastal resorts of Aldeburgh; Southwold and Warbleswick and there are many lovely local walks. Nearby are also Minsmere Bird Sanctuary; the town of Woodbridge; Sutton Hoo; Snape Maltings – home of the Aldeburgh Music Festival; and castles at Framlingham and Orford. Excellent walking and cycling can be enjoyed from the doorstep.
