About this property
Quirky Cottage Hideaway in the Centre of Rye
Charming Cottage in the Heart of Historic Rye
Step into our cosy, character-filled cottage—described by many as feeling like a stylish boat (but with more space!). With warm wood paneling, a charming old (steep) staircase, and a snug bathroom, this home is full of unique touches that make for a truly special stay.
What to Expect:
Cosy & Quirky Charm – The staircase is steep (quintessentially old Rye), and the bathroom features a handheld shower over the bath, adding to the cottage’s authentic feel. Please keep this in mind if accessibility is a concern.
Comfort & Convenience – A fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine and dishwasher, plus a small, private courtyard that even features part of Rye’s historic old wall—beautifully illuminated at night.
Thoughtful Touches – We provide tea, coffee, sugar, milk, and essentials like soap, shampoo, and fluffy towels. Just bring your own food and drinks!
Dog-Friendly – A small, well-behaved dog is welcome upon request (additional cleaning fee applies).
Guest Access:
Guests have full access to the entire property. The cottage is ideal for two adults (in the double bedroom) and one child or adult (in the single bedroom).
Perfect Location:
Nestled just off the main road leading into Rye’s old town, the cottage is close to parking (cattle market car parking..£3 for the whole day!) while still offering a peaceful retreat. Step outside, and you’re moments away from the historic citadel, charming streets, and a fantastic selection of pubs—including one just opposite. I’ll also share my personal recommendations to help you plan the perfect stay!
While you may hear a little town buzz from traffic, neighbours or passersby, the moment you close the door, you’ll feel an immediate sense of serenity—your own little hideaway in the heart of Rye.
Other Things to Note:
Rye is a truly picturesque town brimming with history and charm. Beyond its cobbled streets and medieval architecture, you’ll find a vibrant mix of cosmopolitan restaurants and cafés. Explore the many shops offering unique finds—don't miss Merchant & Mills for every sewing need and a wonderful workshop. For a sweet treat, head to Knoops for their incredible hot chocolate as well as the Mermaid Cafe a few metres from the cottage for ice cream, cakes, and traditional sweet shops that feel like stepping back in time.
Book your stay and experience the magic of this historic and cosy retreat!

I look forward to welcoming you to this lovely corner of the world and hope you’ll love Rye just as much as I do!
