Enjoyable stay in superb self catering accommodation
We enjoyed our short break in excellent accommodation, which was perfect for our needs. Clearly a lot of thought had gone in to the accommodation and everything had been finished to a high standard. We would certainly stay there again if we are in the area and would recommend to anyone who is visiting East Sussex, an perfect base for many local National Trust places.

Perfect Escape Away!
Faultless space with everything could need, local supermarket to get sugar and bits to cook from space! Super comfy bed, loved the extra touches and coffee machine, quiet and owners have a gorgeous garden to appreciate whilst sitting in the terrace space. Location was great to access Rye and other areas. We wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Not great as it looks
We had high expectations for The Grain Store after seeing the beautiful pictures online, but unfortunately, the reality was far from what was promised. While the property looks charming in photos, there were many issues that made the stay uncomfortable and disappointing.
First, the noise was unbearable. The place is far too close to a busy main road, and you can clearly hear cars passing at all hours. At night, this made it extremely difficult to sleep. To make matters worse, there are no blackout curtains, including for the roof window, so the room is flooded with light very early in the morning.
Storage is another major problem—there isn’t a wardrobe at all, just a few hangers. We had to keep most of our clothes in our luggage, which was very inconvenient.
The kitchen is poorly equipped: no microwave (which is a basic appliance in most rentals), no oil or condiments of any kind, and even kitchen towels aren’t provided. None of this is mentioned in the listing, so be prepared to bring absolutely everything if you plan on cooking.
The seating situation is also disappointing. A proper sofa would have been far more comfortable than what’s there. The outdoor table and chairs are equally underwhelming, facing directly onto the noisy main road—hardly the relaxing countryside experience one might expect.
