About this property
Jerards Dairy - sleeps 8 guests in 4 bedrooms
Situated in the rolling green hills of the Dorset and Somerset border and close to the popular town of Sherborne, take a step back in time as you arrive at the tiny Cotswoldesque Elizabethan hamlet of Jerards, home to the historic Jerards Dairy. This exceptional and spellbinding property has been meticulously refurbished to provide an impeccably styled holiday home that exudes elegance and luxury throughout, and offers a plethora of exposed beams and original character features.
As you enter via the covered stone porch, you will find a charming utility and boot room that leads you through to the double-aspect family kitchen, with its marble counter tops and electric Everhot range taking pride of place. A cosy breakfast area provides the perfect spot for your morning coffee and a glazed door leads out to the elevated terrace, affording views across the Estate. As you step into the dining room, a truly impressive space adorned with antique and designer furniture, overlooks a cosy sitting area which beautifully frames an enormous original stone inglenook fireplace with a large wood burning stove. To the side your journey continues to the sumptuous family sitting and television room, an ideal relaxing retreat for the family at the end of the day. A beautiful cloakroom also sits next to the staircase on the ground floor.
On the first floor you will find the first of four exceptional bedrooms, which include a principal suite with a generous bedroom, a dressing room and study, and a large en-suite rain shower room with free-standing bath and double vanity unit. The second large bedroom on the first floor also has an en-suite rain shower room, and offers one of the three over-sized 6' 8" wide Emperor beds at the property, the ultimate in luxury. On the second floor the final two bedrooms include an stunningly decorated twin bedroom with large 3' 4" wide beds, and the remaining Emperor bedroom with its indulgent free-standing bath. A further family shower room sits between the bedrooms on the second floor, and completes the picture at this extraordinary holiday home.
When staying at Jerards Dairy, dogs are very welcome and guests are free to enjoy the 50-acre estate along with all its animals, together with an abundance of countryside walks nearby and on the adjoining ridges, offering spectacular views in every direction. The private terrace invites guests to relax, or for those feeling more energetic, a newly resurfaced tennis court awaits, across a cobbled courtyard. Nearby are numerous quiet villages to explore and great pubs within easy reach, with the local Mitre Inn just a 5 min walk down the bottom drive. An abundance of cafés, pubs, restaurants and shops await four miles away in Sherborne, along with its incredible Abbey, arts centre and two historic castles. Just 10 miles away you'll find the renowned Newt Hotel and Bruton's bustling boho yet authentic culinary and arts scene. Or for more family fun, within easy distance you can explore the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Haynes Motor Museum or head towards the beaches between Abbotsbury and Lyme Regis.
Whether you are looking to gather the family together for a special holiday, or take a relaxing couples break away from it all, Jerards Dairy combines ultimate comfort with complete tranquillity, in a breathtaking rural setting, and ensures that magical memories will be made and never forgotten.
