Two bedroom holiday hideaway in the Blackdown Hills. Walks and wildlife!
A peaceful rural place that hasn't changed much in centuries, you will soon forget the stress of everyday life and unwind to the sound of birdsong.
We have a small flock of rare breed sheep and a little nature reserve; we try to farm in a regenerative way, protecting the soil and the environment. Paddle in the beautiful River Culm by day or gaze at the stars in the unpolluted sky at night - our air is clean and so is our water, which comes from one of the many springs in this place that time forgot. If you're (very) lucky you might spot an otter or a barn owl, an orchid or a glowworm - just some of the wildlife and plant life that we are lucky to live among.
Ours is a friendly local farming community. It's probably not the holiday for you if you're looking for all the mod cons, although we do have super-fast broadband! You won't be able to get food delivered and Uber won't find you here, but you will be able to get away from everything, snuggle up in front of a fire or watch the world go by. There are lots of beautiful walks in our quiet lanes, lovely local pubs, and plenty of day trips locally. You won't want to leave!

About the host
Hosted by Vanessa dH
I know how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful, rural place, and I would like others to enjoy it too! I'm an author, so the peace and quiet and long walks suit me. But I also love meeting people, so sharing our space with guests gives me the best of both worlds.
Why they chose this property
The landscape here is one that hasn't changed much for centuries. It's full of wildlife and plant life that has been lost from so much of the UK. From mature trees to laid hedges, clean rivers and carnivorous plants, the Blackdown Hills is a unique environment. The lanes are quiet and the community is friendly.
What makes this property unique
It's part of the history of the Blackdown Hills, part of a small farm that works in harmony with nature, with plenty of places to escape the busyness of daily life.
