5.The Launceston Steam
Journey back in time at the Bodmin and Wenford Railway and experience the glorious era of steam travel on Cornwall’s only full size railway still operated by steam locomotives. Passenger train services operate between February and December and run daily through the summer with many themed journeys and special events. Bodmin General has car parking facilities for our passengers. This FREE car park is sited directly adjacent to the station and available for the exclusive use of our own visitors and staff. Steamers Cafe at Bodmin General Station is open on all train operating days – serving a good variety of hot and cold drinks, Cornish Pasties, sausage rolls, freshly cut sandwiches, cakes, snacks and sweets. There is seating available inside and outside the cafe for customers.
4.The Milky way adventure park
The Milky Way Adventure Park is a multi award-winning, all-weather day out less than 30 minutes from Bude – and open every weekend even in winter, plus every weekday too from Easter onwards. Designed to be fun for parents as well as kids, there are no hidden extras, as all of the rides, shows and play areas are included in the entrance fee.
3.Visit Clovelly
Visiting Clovelly is such a special experience. It is a beautiful picturesque fishing village, steeped in maritime atmosphere and history and was once owned by the Queen of England. It clings to a 400 foot cliff in Devon and has no vehicular traffic on its steeply cobbled street, just donkeys and sledges.
2. Surfing
With the Atlantic facing north coast of Cornwall rating so highly for great waves and epic scenery, the Bude area and its wild surf beaches are a brilliant destination for surfing in Cornwall. Many European Champion surfers were born and raised in the waves of Bude.
More experienced surfers will love exploring the stunning wild coastline nearby, while newcomers are well catered for with excellent surfing tuition and safe, accessible beaches close at hand.
Several Surf schools exist for all ages and abilities. With friendly, qualified tutors and all the surfing gear you need available for hire, you couldn’t wish for a finer place to learn to surf or improve existing skills. Other alternatives such as body boarding are also popular and easily arranged, while the resort also has some excellent surf shops.
