Cosy barn for couples in peaceful rural surroundings near Bude coast

Enjoy this traditional, cosy stone one-bed barn conversion located in a quiet hamlet, surrounded by beautiful countryside, only nine miles from the seaside resort of Bude.
It's the perfect location for exploring unspoilt north Cornwall & Devon, with beaches and the south-west coast path within easy reach; you need a car to get around. Soak in the peace and quiet of the Barn with its home comforts, and enjoy the luxurious king size bed. During the colder months the heating is kept on all day.
Make the most of your break using our customised information on local walks, and places to visit. The photos give an idea of the places you can visit within an hour's drive.
Please note that the Barn is not suitable for babies, infants or children.
**Housing crisis in the South West: the Barn only has planning consent as holiday accommodation so by booking it you are not preventing a local family from having a home to rent **
Although we’re no longer a working farm you can often see a local farmer’s attractive Stabiliser cattle grazing in our organic field, and we keep 4 chickens. Depending on the time of year you might see geese or ducks rearing their young on our wildlife pond, long-eared bats catching insects at dusk, or our resident hedgehog late at night. We provide a bird guide to help you identify birds on the birdfeeders, including the Great Spotted Woodpecker, goldfinch, tits and chaffinches. Our black and white rescue cat, Bubble, keeps a watchful eye over the whole farm.
We welcome one well-behaved, adult, dog. There's a lovely private sunny seating area in front of the Barn; we ask dog owners to keep their dog on a lead because the area isn't fully enclosed. The area is very dog friendly, and you may find shopkeepers offering your pet a treat with every visit! Most pubs and restaurants welcome dogs and nearby Sandymouth beach allows dogs all year round.
We have one other holiday apartment for couples in our courtyard, which is entirely separate from the Barn. The rest of our courtyard is used for storage.
We love welcoming guests from all areas of the UK and the world, with the aim that that they return home with everlasting memories of their stay here.

Beautiful Spot

A lovely area and a great location. Perfect for a Couple

The property was presented to a very high standard. Very clean and extremely well equipped. Could not fault anything. We had a great stay here and the friendly owners provided much local information to ensure you could make the most of your visit to this beautiful area. Very quiet and peaceful location but with easy access to A39 Atlantic Highway which was a huge advantage. Perfect five night getaway.

Perfect hideaway for work and exploring

There is a reason why I keep coming back to Cosy barn I simply love everything about it. I honestly can’t fault it . Location is perfect the barn itself is spotlessly clean , comfortable and as the title says cosy. Riki and her husband are great hosts . Look forward to returning here next year .

A calm and welcoming stay

Rikki and Martin have thought of everything you need for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is well equipped, the furniture comfortable and parking is a breeze. The washer was a bonus. The property is located less than a kilometre from the A39, so you can head off to explore the region.

Amazing Cornwall holiday

From the moment we checked in, Riki was great, so helpful and welcomed us like she had know us for years, we felt at home. The barn was beautiful, clean, really large, the most comfortable bed!!! Everything we needed was there. The welcome pack was great, milk, eggs, bread and cookies. The barn was ideally placed for visiting the North of Cornwall and North Devon, we visited so many places in the 2wks we were there. I would highly recommend this barn to everyone, and hopefully we will return again.

When we unexpectedly found ourselves without jobs after many years of commuting to London we decided to do something completely different - a real lifestyle change. So we bought our dream property in North Cornwall and haven't looked back. Our 5 children are independent; one lives locally with his family, and the remainder still live in SW London. Between us we are proud grandparents to 11 grandchildren. We have Bubble, surviving brother to Squeak, who we rescued from Cats Protection in 2015. Martin has nurtured a flock of chickens - all different breeds - and built a magnificent 'chicken hotel'. We're both keen photographers and walkers - both of which go very much hand-in-hand here. We both worked in London for many years, and met whilst working for a global publishing company. Riki worked locally as a care worker for 4 years, whilst Martin volunteered as a watch keeper at the National Coast Watch Institute at Boscastle. Our aim is that guests thoroughly enjoy the Barn, its location, and the surrounding area.

Why they chose this property

We knew instantly that this was the home for us. It offers the best of everything - North Cornwall is unspoilt and yet we're just a few miles from some spectacular coastline and beaches. It's in a quiet rural hamlet and yet you can get to the Atlantic Highway (A39) quickly, which links North Devon to South Cornwall. So we're easy to find. Woolley is a very friendly community and made us feel very welcome from the start.
And there are such a variety of things to do - walking, swimming, surfing, eating cream teas, coasteering, gardens and stately homes to name but a few.

What makes this property unique

You can park outside the cottage, enjoy a glass of wine in the private seating area and have a BBQ. From the kitchen window you can watch a variety of birds gorge themselves on the bird feeder.
Our farm overlooks the Marsland Valley which is home to the Marsland Nature Reserve. This boasts a wonderful display of butterflies, ancient woodland and heath that stretches out to the coast, managed by the Devon Wildlife Trust. It is a truly magical, undiscovered spot.
