Spacious apartment features fresh, modern appointments w/ original vintage details in our Craftsman-era home. This is a full-time, dedicated vacation rental. Located in the heart of a quiet, tree-lined residential neighborhood, while conveniently close to the action. 4 blocks to St. Charles/Carrollton streetcar and walking distance to all the amazing restaurants, music clubs, & shopping that St Charles Ave, Oak St, Maple St and Carrollton Ave have to offer! Near Tulane U, Loyola U, Audubon Park and the Freret St corridor. **Nightly rates are reduced due to roadwork on our block**
We only accept bookings from guests who have an excellent review history and are Owner Recommended. Due to previous experience, we are not accepting reservations from guests who have no review history. Please include in your booking request an introduction including the nature of your trip, and with whom you will be traveling.
*Please note that as of 4/24/2025, the city of New Orleans began roadwork on our block. As of 8/27/2025, no parking is allowed on our block but cars may be parked on our cross street Willow (only 50 feet from our property, as we are the 2nd house from the corner). The city does not keep us well-informed of changes or progress; on weekdays there is currently daytime activity, and NO activity on the weekends and evenings. Nightly rates are reduced due to the roadwork our street.
It's important to me to create a space that is inviting, comfortable, and convenient for my guests, at the same in keeping with the original architectural details of my 100 year old house, and drawing from inspiration the colorful palette and vintage decor from this inimitable 300 year old city.
Setting up the house for your convenience while traveling is NOT an afterthought for me--it's the focus of my hospitality and my careful consideration. Whether you're in New Orleans for pleasure, for work, or to visit family, my goal is to provide an experience that is effortless so that you can focus on time well spent here...
Key to a good night's sleep are our new, comfortable beds. In addition to our DirecTV subscription, two of the 3 TVs are smart TVs, so you can stream Netflix, Amazon, etc if you prefer. I also have a some games in the console in the living room: dominoes, playing cards, chess/checkers/backgammon set, and Cards Against Humanity. Our new Samsung washer and dryer are an appreciated feature for travelers. Detergent for the clothes washer is on hand for your convenience too.
The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, cooking utensils, knives, and many basics that you'd need to prepare a meal. In addition to the new dishwasher, toaster oven, microwave, and coffee pot, we also supply a crock pot and a blender. The kitchen pantry regularly features items like coffee, coffee filters, tea bags, sugar honey, Splenda, olive oil, salt, pepper, spices, paper towels and plates, plastic reusable Mardi Gras cups, ziploc bags, trash bags, dishwasher pods and dish soap. And snacks, of course!
The bathrooms always feature plush towels, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, shaving cream, sunblock, first aid kit, toilet paper, kleenex, Q-tips, and cotton balls. Detergent for the clothes washer is on hand for your convenience too.
>>Now featuring a Level 2 / 240v charging outlet on site for our guests' electric vehicles! (see photo) Free of charge for guests. Bring your own 220v cord with NEMA plug. Level 1 / 120v standard outlet is also available and easily accessible. Please inquire with me to arrange.
Please note that due to COVID-19, all DECORATIVE pillows in the photos have been removed from this property because they cannot be sanitized. Both the dishwasher and the washer (laundry) feature "sanitizer" cycles. Please contact me if you have any specific concerns...

About the host
Hosted by Wendy

I am a native New Orleanian, with French Louisiana heritage that dates back to 1720--that's before the Louisiana Purchase! I have lived here my entire life, except for a few years when I lived in San Francisco and when I worked in national parks. My love for this city runs deep--there's truly nowhere else like it. My hometown's unique culture, art, and architecture is a rich source of inspiration for me as a designer.
My fiancé Tom made New Orleans his home 25 years ago, and around here that qualifies him as a "local." Tom is the owner/creative director of one of the most authentic live local music clubs in New Orleans, called D.B.A., which is located on world-famous Frenchmen St. If you love experiencing live local and regional music, you should definitely check out D.B.A.
We both love music, art, and food, and we love celebrating the unique cultures and traditions of New Orleans and Louisiana. Did I mention FOOD?! New Orleans has world-class cuisine at every price level. Just let us know what you're looking for, and we'll be happy to offer suggestions, as we strive to make your visit to New Orleans an unforgettable one!
