A stone chalet with an exposed wooden roof, measuring approximately 160 square metres, located within the Majella National Park, surrounded by two hectares of fenced-in land and woodland, featuring a natural grass field and a sun-drenched overlook of the Gran Sasso and Majella. This detached villa is located at an altitude of approximately 1,000 metres just outside the village of Roccamorice and consists of a spacious living room with a long wooden dining table and a sitting area featuring a stone fireplace and a large picture window offering a breathtaking view of the valley all the way to the sea. The kitchen is comfortable and tastefully furnished. On the ground floor is the first double bedroom, overlooking fragrant fields of lavender and broom, with an en suite bathroom featuring a shower. Also on the ground floor is a second full bathroom, equipped with a washing machine. From the living room, a wide wooden staircase leads to the loft on the ground floor, where there are two comfortable bedrooms: one quad with a double bed and a bunk bed, and the other triple with a double bed and a 150-cm-long children’s bed. Outside, the viewing platform is furnished with garden furniture and a pergola—it’s not uncommon to spot roe deer and red deer that have wandered onto the property!
The villa is adjacent to the trail leading to the Hermitage of San Bartolomeo, as well as to the numerous trails of the “Cammino di Celestino V,” which winds through picturesque landscapes to other hermitages nestled in the rock, such as the Hermitage of Santo Spirito, so that, from the wild vegetation of the Maiella, the most fit hikers can even reach the sea. Just a few metres from the villa, rock-climbing enthusiasts will find a rock face overlooking the lush valley; furthermore, it is possible to visit—even by following a nearby trail—the sun-drenched plateau of the Giumentina Valley, which is home to the Palaeolithic Museum. Near the villa, there are trattorias, agritourism farms, and a campground, while about 5 km down the road in the village, you’ll find convenience stores, bars, pizzerias, traditional Abruzzese restaurants, and a pharmacy. The villa serves as a starting point for interesting excursions to the nearby Gran Sasso National Park, as well as to the quaint neighbouring villages; or, for those who enjoy nightlife and shopping, to the lively seaside city of Pescara. Pescara Airport is 40 km away, while the nearest train station is Manoppello Scalo, 17 km away. In town, you can rent a car, as well as book horseback riding, quad bike tours, and hiking trips for families and experienced hikers.
