About this property

The Granary at Newage Farm

The Granary at Newage Farm is a delightful barn conversion on the North Downs Way, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The barn encompassing the upper floor of the former granary building. It has been restored to a high specification and sits in the beautiful grounds of Newage Farmhouse. The lovely open plan living space creates a spacious sociable area for friends or family to gather, and it has French doors to a small balcony with far reaching views across the Kent countryside. One bedroom has an ensuite shower room and there is a bathroom near the second bedroom. There is a snug with TV, which has a sofa bed for a further guest on request. Outside, the barn has a private garden area with table and chairs and guests are free to wander into the adjoining orchard and catch the sunset whilst relaxing in the hammock and listening to the birdsong. In fact, nature is in abundance at The Granary which has resident partridges, pheasants, hares, buzzards, kestrels and owls so don’t forgot your binoculars. Nestled in the beautiful Kent countryside aptly named the Garden of England, the area offers charming villages to explore, by foot, cycle or car, and is close to the Pilgrim’s Way. The historic market towns of Lenham and Faversham are a short drive away, as is the impressive Leeds Castle. The medieval City of Canterbury is also a short drive with its iconic cathedral, and for those wanting to enjoy the coast, where better than a trip to the fishing harbour town of Whitstable famous for its oyster beds. Note: there is an electric charging point for cars and bikes.

Highly recommended

A very cozy accomodation, so also ideal for the winter months. (And you'll be thinking about how beautiful it must be in spring and summer.)

One of the best!

Everything was excellent; decor, cleanliness, comfort, location and helpfulness. We stayed with my son and girlfriend. We watched a Netflix movie in the cosy nook, played a board game in the main room, eat a lovely breakfast; eggs, bread jam and honey arranged by the owners in advance. We saw owls at night and woke to beautiful fields all around in the morning. Highly recommend.

A gorgeous stay in the beautiful Kent countryside.

We had a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable stay at The Granary at Newage Farm. The property is beautifully designed and spotlessly clean, and we both felt that every little detail had been attended to. During our three night stay, we couldn't think of a single thing that we needed that had not been provided, and our host was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. We both loved the fact that the host was there for us if we needed assistance, but also totally respected our privacy. We had originally intended to drive to local sites, but as we live not too far away and can visit another time, we decided to have a total detox from our routine, and spent the whole time reading, cooking lovely meals and walking in the countryside with our labradoodle, leaving the car in the drive way. Of particular note for me was the lighting in the property; I love cozy but also practical lighting, and that was exactly what we got in every single room. The beds and bedding were also gorgeous and extremely comfortable, with spectacular views from all rooms and bedrooms over the Kent countryside. The silence at night - except of course for the hooting of a local owl- was splendid as we live on a busy street at home. Silence is indeed golden. Highly recommended, and without any reservation.

A very peaceful stay in a beautiful setting.

We had a very peaceful week at the Granary. Lovely views across the countryside and the accommodation had everything we needed. Shame that the wardrobe door couldn't be fixed before we arrived but this was a minor issue. We made full use of the EV charger. Our only disappointment was that the Keeper's Cottages website charged us for a dog which we do not have. We tried six times to uncheck this box ! ! We have already mentioned this wonderful property to our neighbours who have similar tastes.

A truly delightful cottage, great for nature.

We pulled into a driveway between a field of sunflowers and an organic meadow, and drove up to the most wonderful barn. Full glass front looks over the fields, gorgeous views from both aspects. The garden is an orchard, with beehives and plenty of natural planting. It just feels wholesome. Opening the door we were met by a most welcoming open plan living area, with comfortable bedrooms, lovely bath. It suited us perfectly, including the fact that the TV room is small and separate - we much prefer to watch birds, and there were plenty of them! The living area is perfectly set up to cook and chat. We were welcomed by a little personal letter from David and Zazu and, even better, homemade jam, marmalade and honey. So good. We loved the local area - top notch dinner, wine and service at The Ringlestone Inn nearby, and a visit to the village market in Lenham - excellent local produce. Half hour drive to Whitstable, 40 mins to Canterbury - ideal. Overall, it was pretty much perfect for a long weekend - well set up, warm, good bath, and it felt like a proper getaway. Thank you for putting so much time and love into your cottage, it was an absolute pleasure to stay.
