About this property
A cottage that sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
For horse enthusiasts, Curlew Cottage in Eldwick is a special retreat, nestled on a working cattle farm and horse livery. This charming barn, once home to milking cows, has been thoughtfully converted into a cosy, character-filled cottage that retains its original beams, situated right in the heart of the livery yard. Guests can enjoy watching the horses come and go, observe their grooming sessions, and might even see a visiting blacksmith at work shoeing the horses.
The cottage is entirely on one level, making it an excellent choice for those who may have difficulty with stairs. A ramp provides wheelchair access, and the wide doorways ensure easy movement throughout the space. Positioned at the start of the Dalesway trail, which passes right by the cottage, guests will find numerous walking and cycling routes available right from their doorstep. While the cottage is set back from the road and the nearest village is a mile away, it is recommended for visitors with their own transport.
This ground-floor cottage offers spacious accommodations for up to 4 guests and features an open-plan living area. A wood-burning stove creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, with comfortable seating around the TV. For cosy nights in, the cottage is stocked with books, board games, and children's toys. The kitchen is fitted with everything you need to prepare meals, including an electric oven and hob, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher. The breakfast bar provides a casual spot to enjoy your morning meal. Enjoy meals together in the separate dining room, which features comfy seating and a dining table—perfect for lingering over a cup of tea while planning your daily adventures.
When night falls, retreat to one of the two spacious bedrooms: a double bedroom and a twin bedroom that includes a cot. The family bathroom features a shower over the bath and a WC for your convenience.
All electricity, logs, bed linen, and towels are provided. A cot and highchair are available upon request. Parking for one car is conveniently located next to the cottage, with additional parking available in the yard. The garden features outdoor furniture, though it may be overlooked from the yard.
Eldwick is set in the beautiful countryside of West Yorkshire, just 2 miles north of Bingley on Bingley Moor. The area is known for its stunning landscapes and traditional stone-built houses. The village boasts a pub serving delicious meals and local ales, with surrounding villages offering plenty of dining options.
Just over a mile away, Bingley Five Rise Lock is a must see famous, along with the Leeds/Bradford Canal. The charming towns of Ilkley and Skipton, gateways to the Dales, are only a 25-minute and 30-minute drive away, respectively. A visit to Haworth, where the Bronte sisters once lived, is highly recommended while in the area. The cities of Leeds and Bradford are easily accessible for shopping, dining, and entertainment options for all ages. The renowned Settle to Carlisle railway line is nearby, offering the chance to catch a steam train to explore the historic city of Carlisle.
