About this property
The Grange, a 1680s historic village hideaway in Dorset
The Grange is a family home on 3 stories that has been beautifully restored and furnished.
It offers 3 reception rooms on the ground floor and 6 double bedrooms upstairs with their own bathrooms. Every room has attention to detail and unusual objets and paintings that are full of colour - all carefully curated by the owner over the years.
The garden has many “rooms” set in 3 acres:-
An avenue of trees for lunches in the shade on a hot summer’s day
A large terrace with table/chairs for 10-12 + French breakfast table
A sofa area with smart orange cushions for relaxing
A large lawn for sport games and croquet (set provided)
A tennis court and table tennis table (bats & TT balls provided)
A tree house and swing
A wildflower meadow
A Swimming pool open May-Sept with cushioned loungers & deck chairs
Pool house with fridge
Direct Access to a 40-acre field with public footpaths for easy family walks
Ample parking at the front.
WiFi and SMART TV in the study
An attic sitting room with TV
TV in the kitchen for the cook.
It sits in the middle of an active village with a charming Post Office/village shop and 2 pubs.
There is a children’s playground at the Village Hall.
There are many walks from the house with a Marnhull book for reference.
Tess of the d'Urbevilles lived in the village and there are plenty of Thomas Hardy attractions.
Nearby towns include Shaftesbury (Gold Hill), Sherborne (Abbey) and Sturminster Newton - all have local markets.
We have a No party policy at the property and we cannot accommodate stag or hen parties, thank you. There is a disclaimer to be noted before booking as this is a family home with many nooks and crannies, swimming pool, tree house and other areas that need to be noted.
It is in the middle of a working village with neighbours.
Care is to be taken when driving or walking as tractors use the village lanes.
Quiet hours are 11pm-7am.
