About this property
3 Bed in Sedbergh (oc-ds169)
Three bedrooms, four bathrooms and a games room with a sofa bed (small double) this property is full of character and in a fabulously secluded location: this family-friendly and pet-friendly house has it all … and then some! Complete with a games room and gorgeous streamside gardens, it sits on the Yorkshire/Cumbria border – ideal for exploring two national parks.
Chock-full of original features, this magnificent country home ticks all the boxes for character and comfort. Its beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and deep-set windows are complemented by underfloor heating and a high-end kitchen with a colourful electric AGA. Step inside and you’ll find a lounge you’ll want to linger in; a multi-fuel stove, comfortable seating and magnificent ceiling set the scene for companionable evenings in front of the TV or listening to your favourite music. When it’s time to cook, the kitchen is equally quirky with stone walls and flooring, a Butler sink and electric AGA. There’s a small dining table here where four can chat while keeping an eye on what’s cooking, and when dinner is ready to be served, move into the dining room where there’s a beautiful antique table and chairs before a feature stone fireplace. A utility room houses an upright fridge and a washing machine completing the ground-floor layout is a peaceful double bedroom with sofa, an en-suite wet room and doors onto the front patio. A wooden staircase from the ground floor leads to a games room complete with a pool table, table-top football, a TV and a music system. A small double sofa bed turns this into a bedroom for two, with a shower room for added convenience. A second, stone staircase to the first floor gives access to a stunning king-sized room with a gorgeous sleigh-style bed and sofa plus an en-suite with a spa bath and separate shower. Also, there is a twin bedroom and a separate bathroom. Beautiful countryside surrounds the property, with sheep grazing the neighbouring fields and the grounds giving access to the river and stream close by. There is an enclosed rear terrace while the rest of the garden blends harmoniously with the landscape.
On the western slopes of the Pennines, Garsdale is 7 miles east of Sedbergh and 9 miles west of Hawes – both are historic market towns with shops and eateries to suit all tastes. Further north lays Kirkby Stephen at the head of the Eden Valley, a popular centre for walkers and situated on the Cumbrian Way, which is a great route for all keen cyclists. To the south, you will find Kirkby Lonsdale, and its surrounding area of outstanding landscape still retains the same beauty appreciated by Constable, Turner and Ruskin.
