About this property

2 Bed in Whitby (oc-w037)

Settle into this charming and traditional cottage with characterful features like wooden beamed ceilings, a romantic attic room with elegant furnishings and a pretty cottage garden. Take your four-legged friend (Collie, Labrador, Terrier or any caninne companion) and family for a seaside getaway while staying in Whitby’s Old Town and fill your time with lazy beach days, seafood dinners and adventures into the surrounding North York Moors National Park.

Walk through the entrance hall to reach the homely kitchen/diner with wooden cabinets on the ‘L’-shaped fitted unit, dark surface tops with plenty of space to cook a meal for your loved ones and an elegant painted table with seating for four. Continue into the cosy lounge which has a dark beamed ceiling with a plump sofa, an armchair and an eyecatching fireplace with a wood burner effect electric fire. There is also a utility cupboard, a family bathroom and a bunk bedroom on the ground floor. On the first floor is a double bedroom with views over the rooftops and the sea beyond. Outside is an enclosed patio garden which is a real rarity in Whitbys old town, enjoy the sheltered Southfacing space and relax with a drink or BBQ.

During your stay on the east of the River Esk, you’ll have the imposing Whitby Abbey ruins within a few minutes walk which can be accessed by climbing the 199 Steps. Wander along the cobbled streets and stop for some food at a tea room, cafe or seafood restaurant overlooking the harbour all within easy walking distance on the cobbled historic steet. There is also a small patch of sand, some quirky shops and the Captain Cook Museum on this side of the water. Cross the bridge to reach the centre of Whiby which offers more eateries, a couple of museums, the Whalebone Arch plus the dog-friendly Whitby Beach (within 0.5 miles). Take your cannine companion for a stroll through Little Beck Wood nature reserve (5.5 miles) or visit the stunning Falling Foss Waterfall and tea rooms (5 miles on outskirts of town).
