About this property

2 Bed in Upton (oc-867)

Managed by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust, this 150-year-old redbrick cottage sits within a leafy garden in the little village of Upton. Located 2.5 miles from the market town of Acle on the edge of the Upton Broad and Marshes nature reserve, this picture-perfect property welcomes up to five guests and two playful pups. Within easy reach of the Norfolk Broads, the east coast beaches and the fine city of Norwich, it offers an idyllic Norfolk escape for families and friends.

Blending old world charm with contemporary comforts, this traditional cottage is light and spacious with excellent attention to detail throughout. Exposed beams, brick walls and feature fireplaces are complemented by neutral colours and stylish furniture. Bathed in natural light, the living room has a feature fireplace with a warming wood burner, a selection of books and games, a TV and DVD, and a choice of comfortable seating. In the summer, throw open the patio doors to the garden, or curl up with a book in the light-filled conservatory. Rustle up hearty breakfasts and family suppers in the bright and fresh kitchen, then gather around the dining table or dine alfresco on warm summer days. When it’s time for bed, head up the steep cottage-style stairs to the two tastefully decorated bedrooms. In keeping with similar properties, the family bathroom is on the ground floor.

Wander out from your front gate and join the 4.5-mile circular walk through the nature reserve, watching for wildlife, or head to Fairhaven Woodland and Water Gardens just 2.5 miles away. Visit Winterton beach (13 miles) to see the seals in winter and swim in summer; you can also pick up the Norfolk Coastal Path from here. Inland, the historic city of Norwich offers two cathedrals, a castle, museums, medieval lanes and independent shops and eateries.
