Create unforgettable memories with your loved ones at this delightful farmhouse-style cottage sitting in the serene hillside hamlet of Newton St Margarets, just 9 miles outside the charming ‘book town’ of Hay-on-Wye. Grab your walking boots and set off to discover the Hatterrall Ridge (7 miles). Climb to the top of and you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views over the beautiful Vale of Ewyas and the Black Mountains. Browse its quirky bookstores, explore its 900-year-old castle, and check out the artisan produce on offer at its impressive weekly farmers’ market. Alternatively, discover the Roman temple ruins at the National Trust’s Weir Garden (13.5 miles). Discover the hidden beauty in the Walled Garden, see the exotic trees in the Rockery, and explore the Glasshouse, which was built in the 19th century by the same company that built Queen Victoria’s glasshouses.
Escape to this idyllic farmhouse-style cottage, which is simply overflowing with quaint period features. Step inside and you’ll be met with a large, traditional open-plan kitchen/dining area, where a characterful low ceiling, painted stonework, wooden worktops, and a cosy wood burner add real charm to the space. The garden view from the kitchen/diner’s French doors is simply lovely. Make your way into the cosy lounge and take a moment to appreciate the glowing open fire – the perfect spot to unwind on a peaceful evening. French doors open out onto the garden terrace from this tranquil space. Completing the ground floor layout, navigating a step to access the family bathroom featuring a shower over the bath. At the end of the day, head upstairs where three lovely bedrooms await – a versatile king-size zip-and-link (which can be made up as a twin on request), a lovely double and a charming single. Each room offers lush garden views, ensuring a peaceful start to each day. There is also a convenient WC on the landing. You can park your car in the private parking area (there’s room for two cars).
Steps down from the cottage's back door lead out into a pretty, sheltered garden. Wisteria spills over the cottage in fragrant bloom during the warmer months, while fruit trees stand proudly among the greenery. A garden bench and a small terrace with a table and chairs offer the perfect settings for al fresco dinners.
