A traditional Yorkshire experience awaits at this pet-friendly stone cottage located in pretty Askrigg, a sweet village deep in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Prepare for scenic trekking adventures taking in riverside paths, waterfalls and moderate climbs, and absorb local history at sites like the Nappa Hall manor house (1 mile) and the Dales Countryside Museum (5.5 miles). The property has a cosy rustic feel and a number of original features, such as wooden ceiling beams. With space for up to five guests over three bedrooms, it’s ideal for a family or group of friends, with one dog welcome to come along, too.

This detached countryside retreat has an open-plan living area for reading, relaxing and watching TV. With its exposed stone wall and wooden ceiling, the space feels homely and welcoming. A wood burner is available for if it’s chilly. Using local produce, cook up yummy meals in the compact country kitchen. You have two spots for enjoying meals be enjoyed at the wooden dining table in the living area. A second eating spot in the kitchen provides a handy extra space for breakfasts and snack. To reach the sleeping quarters, ascend the bespoke staircase in the centre of the room. Each bedroom is beautifully decorated and features an appealing window seat.

Askrigg is a quaint village known for its appearance in the BBC series ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. You’ll have a pub and shop within 400 metres of your front door and many attractions nearby, from the impressive Aysgarth Falls (5 miles) to the Grade II* listed Gayle Mill (6.5 miles). Take the dog on satisfying walks through the hills, then pop into a local tearoom for a refreshing afternoon beverage and cake. The Wensleydale Creamery (6 miles) is a must for cheese fans, while the Wensleydale Brewery in Leyburn (12.5 miles) will please real-ale aficionados.
