About this property
The Potting Shed at Island Hall
Nestled within the tranquil Cambridgeshire countryside, the Potting Shed is a charming barn conversion that offers the perfect mix of comfort, privacy and rural character. Set in the historic grounds of Grade II* Listed Island Hall, the property sits close to the River Great Ouse, with peaceful water views and scenic walks right on the doorstep. Surrounded by nature reserves and open meadowland, it provides a lovely escape for couples seeking a quiet and romantic retreat. The Potting Shed is close to several nature reserves and situated within nature conservation area.
Inside, the open-plan living area feels warm and welcoming, complete with a wood burner and large patio doors that fill the space with natural light and lead out to a private patio garden. It's an ideal spot for relaxing with coffee in the morning or enjoying an evening after a day exploring. The well-appointed kitchen blends modern convenience with a homely feel, making it easy to settle in and enjoy your stay at your own pace. Upon your arrival you will find a welcome basket kindly provided by the owner. The Potting Shed is also accessible and step free between the bedroom, bathroom & living
The restful double bedroom also opens onto a shared courtyard through French doors. The contemporary en-suite shower room adds a touch of luxury, while the galleried study area above offers a quiet nook for reading or working during longer stays.
Although the cottage feels delightfully tucked away, everything you need is within easy reach. Local shops, cafés and the railway station are close enough to walk to, and the vibrant university city of Cambridge is only a short drive away. Excellent transport links make it simple to plan days out in nearby Peterborough or even London, giving guests the best of both worlds — peaceful countryside living with access to exciting culture and history whenever you choose.
The Potting Shed allows 1 small dog.
Specifically, dogs up to 25 lb / 11 kg (approx.) are considered suitable.
If your dog is larger than that, they ask you to contact them first to discuss suitability.
So: a small-to-small-medium dog is fine — but larger dogs may or may not be allowed subject to approval.
