Lovely cottage

The cottage is beautiful and thoughtfully designed! Lovely design and products, as-well as good quality kitchenware/linen etc. Our stay was lovely and the location in Kingham was great. However, there were a few issues along the way… Firstly it took us 30 minutes to find the property, the What three words did not take you to the location. We asked around at the pubs, but we could not find it. Might be worth mentioning that it’s up a pathway and difficult to find. We only managed to find it by walking up and down on foot. We were also sat having breakfast on our fist morning and could see a figure walking up and down past the windows in the garden, my husband went out to check if everything was okay, and the gentleman was very polite and mentioned he helped look after the property and wasn’t aware that anyone was staying there. Was just a little odd, we think he was doing the bins but would have been polite to just let us know. We were hoping to use the washing machine as we had been visiting London prior to our trip to the Cotswolds, only to be told the next morning after our arrival it was out of use and they were sending an engineer to fix it that day. Unfortunately it couldn’t be fixed so sadly we weren’t able to use it. We didn’t hear again from Kevin who had visited with the engineer. On our last night a bottle of Prosecco was left outside the door, but we didn’t receive a message or apology regarding the washing machine but can only assume it was for that? The bathroom is aesthetically pleasing, however it’s very awkward to get in and out of the shower, the water drains very slowly, so you are standing ankle deep in the water. We also purchased some expensive tinned fish from London, when leaving we completely forgot to take it out of the kitchen drawer to take home with us. I messaged Kevin when I remembered about it, but did not receive a response. I know this was our error for forgetting, but a reply would have been appreciated to see if anything could be done. Finally, we had to guess which bin was for which rubbish as there was no information in the booklet. All that being said, we did still have a lovely stay.

Thank you, Annabella, for your kind review of your recent stay at 1 Horseshoe Cottage. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the cottage, its design, and the beautiful setting in Kingham. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback, which has been passed on to the property owner and he apologises for the issues you encountered. With regard to arrival, the What3Words location directs guests to the alleyway leading to the cottage, however, we recognise this could be clearer and will update the instructions to highlight access via the alleyway between the two cottages on Church Street. The gardener’s visit was for routine maintenance. We understand this may have come as a surprise, and arrangements are now in place to ensure any future visits are communicated in advance. The washing machine was unfortunately out of service during your stay and a bottle of Prosecco was left as a gesture of goodwill, and we acknowledge this should have been clearly communicated at the time. We can confirm that the was machine has now been repaired and is fully operational. Thank you for your comments regarding the shower. While it is shown in the listing, the owner will review the drainage issue. We will also ensure clearer guidance on waste disposal is included in the property information folder. Regarding the item left behind, we will contact the property manager to arrange for the housekeeping team to check and follow up with you directly. Thank you again for your valuable feedback. We hope to welcome you back in the future.
