Located in the popular Lewes community of Cape Shores is a large home steps away from Lewes Beach. With all the space in this home, you can skip the bed and breakfast by opting for a stay here in the first town in the first state! Lewes is a quintessential beach town, offering a variety of quaint shops and restaurants, charter boats, two lighthouses, and historical sites from the colonial period and World War II. If you have family members flying in from afar, they can take advantage of the close proximity to air ports at nearby metropolitan areas like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. This home in Cape Shores offers three levels of spacious living, including screened porches, balconies, and grilling deck. Enjoy sun bathing on the private balcony, or views of the bay and lighthouse from the front top deck. The second level offers two bedrooms, including one master, in addition to the primary living space and kitchen. With the large screen porch off the dining space, guests can enjoy meals inside or out. The third floor has five more bedrooms and a great room with varied entertainment. On the ground level is a ping-pong table for guest use, as well as an additional living space, plus bathroom. This house could not have a better location - it is just one block to the bay beach, pier, and pool access. It is also a short bike ride to the ocean beaches and array of bike trails in Cape Henlopen State Park, and the community also features two tennis courts for guest use.

***Guests may only use the elevator if they receive prior approval by signing an elevator addendum and paying an additional $200 fee.

A linen package can be purchased for your stay. The cost of the linen package for one week's stay is $383.00.

7 Night Stays- June through August
2 Night Stays- Jan through May and September through December

All VRBO reservations are a booking request only until confirmed by Property Manager. You will be required to sign a Residential Lease Agreement and make your payment within the required deadlines provided or your booking request will be cancelled. As a property manager, we welcome “Special Event” rentals. All properties are individually owned and not all properties are available for “Special Event” rentals. Credit Card payments subject to 2% fee.

The pool hours for guest and renters are daily from 10am to 6pm - no pool bands are required for entry. Per the HOA rules and regulations: only home owners have access to the pool outside of these hours with a specific pool fob.

Quick and efficient last minute booking for the Thanksgiving holiday. Easy check in/key pick up from rental office which was about 4-6 min drive away. Perfectly accommodated a group of 14 adults and 6 kids. Will keep it on our list for future family trips especially since its location is just one block (literally just one row of homes) from the beach. Also about 1 mile away from Cape May - Lewes ferry and nearby many shopping locations. Home is well equipped for large groups with several living room/family style spaces within, which came in handy for the children in our group.

Terrific house. Well-provisioned in the kitchen (sharp knives! cast iron frying pan!), for the beach (chairs, toys), and for passing the time (games, puzzles). Plenty of room to be together or be apart if needed. Great screened porch, 3 terraces on 2 levels. Very close to beach. A bit odd layout but it worked out ok. I'd come back to this place in a flash.

The property was a pleasant place. The cleanliness of the home was mediocre. We found disposable toothpicks in some of the bedrooms and the floor made our feet black....so it seemed to be unwashed. The coffee pot and kettle were melted but functional. We appreciated the screened in porch and everything else.

We love thd home and location. Stayed there last year too. Thought this year it could have used a little more care. There was still food in the refrigerator from the previous occupants. Throw rugs in bathrooms were dirty. Some light fixtures didn’t work . Floors weren't very clean

The home was exactly like the photos. Our favorite features were the location to the pool and bay - it could not have been better! The home was very family friendly and had gates/doors on all stairs. We were unfortunately disappointed in the cleanliness of the property. After three days, we purchased a Swifer mop to assure the floors were reasonably clean for our young kids walking, crawling, dropping binkies, etc. We also had to manage an ant issue on the second and third floors. The vacuum provided needs thrown away, as it could not manage a crushed cracker on the living room area rug.

multi generational family vacation

We really enjoyed our week at the Large Family Getaway. The house is in an ideal location with easy access to both the pier, the bay beach, and the pool, and the owners are kind enough have plenty of chairs, sand toys, and even kayaks for enjoying the amenities. This was our 34th summer coming to Lewes for family vacation and our 32nd staying in the Cape Shores neighborhood, so obviously we really love it there. Being right next to Cape Henlopen State Park is wonderful, giving you access to the bike trails, disc golf, the playground, and multiple ocean beaches. You can even ride your bikes on the Gordon's Pond trail all the way to Rehoboth! It should be mentioned that the Cape Shores neighborhood has a very heavy handed HOA with lots of rules and full-time residents who keep tabs on things, giving a bit of a feeling that you are being watched some of the time, but that is just something to keep in mind, and the neighborhood itself is very clean and pleasant to be in otherwise.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Elevator didn't work ($200)cost. Give them credit, they got the repair folks in that afternoon and he was great. Some of the furniture really needs to be replaced, it was saggy in 2018 and hasn't improved since then. The silly cordomatic clothes line mentioned in the brochure hasn't worked in 5 years and the grill really needs to be cleaned more often.

The water went out on the last morning so we had to check out early. The floors were not very clean when we arrived, especially the stairs. I'm sure it is hard because of the beach sand. The amenities were fantastic and the home was amazing. I would highly recommend staying here, lots of room and lots to do that the owners thought about. Thank you very much.

Perfect for a large family stay

We took our first vacation with my husband’s parents, siblings, and their families in 12 years and this house was perfect for our group of 14 (+ one 6 month old niece😉). We were pleased with the size, the roomy feeling of the house, and the location in proximity to the bay and the state park. There were enough rooms that everyone had a place to go if they needed a break from the crowd. The placement of the bathrooms seemed off for the spaces- 1 full bath and 1 half bath on the third floor for 5 bedrooms and a large bonus room- there were 10 of us sharing that floor. There was an on suite to the master and a full bath on the second floor for the one bedroom there, and the other full bath was in the basement/first floor off of the game room. That meant 5 of us had to go down two floors to shower/bath. Not a huge issue, but more of an inconvenience. Some of the light switches were either non functional or hard to locate which made it fun trying to turn lights on and off. (Overall, these are just the quirks of a home and we were not overly bothered by them. Luckily, our crew is pretty laid back.) The location to the public beach access within the community was great and all the kids loved fishing from the pier. The community pool was open but we had great weather and with the bay only a short walk from the house, we never went to the pool (also just a short walk from the house). Plenty of parking in the driveway and on street and lots of storage in the garage for all the beach things we had. Two outdoor showers and an abundance of hoses to clean sand off before going into the home was a plus. My in laws’ favorite spot was the screened in porch. By the third day of our stay, plans were already being made to return again next year. Overall, we were quite pleased.
