Old Orchards Lodge - Woodland Retreat at the edge of Cartmel
Old Orchards Lodge is a charming two-bedroom retreat located on the peaceful Aynsome Manor private lodge park, just inside the boundary of the Lake District National Park. It's only a 15‑minute walk from the centre of Cartmel Village and a short drive to the Victorian seaside town of Grange‑over‑Sands.
The park grounds are beautifully maintained, with a picturesque pond that attracts an array of birdlife, including the striking Kingfisher. The lodge has been refurbished inside and out and features a double bedroom, a triple bedroom, a modern shower room, a well-equipped kitchen, and a spacious living area with comfortable seating and a gas fire. Patio doors lead out onto a Lakeland slate terrace, perfect for morning coffee or evening drinks. There is also a second seating area at the rear of the lodge for added outdoor space.
Positioned at the upper end of the park, Old Orchards sits beneath the canopy of mature trees. A large grassy area directly beside the lodge provides an ideal spot for children to run and play. Adults can unwind on the patio with a glass of wine after a day exploring the South Lakes.
The lodge is perfectly placed for discovering the best of the South Lakes. Popular destinations- including Windermere, Bowness, Coniston and Newby Bridge- are all within easy reach. From Newby Bridge, you can join Windermere Cruises and sail north to Bowness, Ambleside, Brockhole Visitor Centre or Wray Castle. If you prefer to stay closer to home, a gentle stroll brings you to Cartmel Village, home to three pubs, a brewery tap room, a wine bar, a coffee shop, and the world‑renowned three‑Michelin‑star restaurant L'Enclume. Cartmel is also the birthplace of the famous Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding- an absolute must‑try (especially with ice cream!).
Cartmel Racecourse hosts events throughout the year, making Old Orchards an ideal base if you're attending the races. The lodge's convenient location also offers easy access to Kendal, Windermere and Coniston.
Whether you're a family, a group of friends or a couple seeking a relaxing getaway, there is plenty to see and do in and around Old Orchards Lodge. Up to two dogs are welcome.
