Converted former Byre in bucolic surroundings on edge of National Park
Converted former byre in bucolic surroundings. Located just outside the village of Strachur, it is an ideal stop for anyone walking the Cowal Way and is close to the unexplored mountains of Cowal and the beautiful Loch Eck and Loch Fyne.
The little cottage shares a garden with the main house (where I live most of the time) and is set amongst mature trees, rippling burns and abundant wildlife including chirruping birds, red squirrels and pine martens.
A lovely place to unwind and relax.
Completed in 2023, this former byre adjoining the main house is now a cosy wee space. It is formed of a living/dining/kitchen area on the ground floor with its own entrance via a stable door. A short staircase leads to a mezzanine double bedroom with an en suite bathroom.
The property is extremely well insulated with plenty of natural light. Water and ambient space heating is provided by an LPG boiler. For colder nights there is a wood-burning stove. Kindling, matches, firelighters and logs are provided.
Outside, there is a typical cottage garden with a variety of places to sit out - please feel free to use the chiminea and the barbecue. The area has very little light pollution and therefore you can experience wonderful starry night skies; even the Aurora Borealis has been known to make an appearance.
This place would suit people with a love of the outdoors and getting close to nature who are not too exercised about the luxuries of life. Whilst the place is very well finished, comfortable and has most things you would expect, it is quite simple and small (but perfectly formed!) so please bear this in mind before you book.
I look forward to hosting you.
