Why they chose this property
Nearly thirty years ago, our lives changed when we first came to the Hartland Peninsula, one of England’s best-kept secrets. Surrounded by sea and nature in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, we felt an immediate sense of deep relief, a complete contrast to the rhythm of our lives in London. We wanted to hold onto that feeling and share it with others.
Downe is rooted in this extraordinary location, a testament to the peninsula’s staggering beauty. We are just a ten-minute walk from the cliffs and pebbled beaches, beautiful in summer and rugged, wild, and invigorating in winter. Hosting here is about giving guests space to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with what matters.
