About this property
2 Bed in Llanellen (oc-t32598)
Set high on a quiet hillside in the Brecon Beacons National Park, this barn is perfectly placed for cyclists seeking world class riding. The area is home to iconic road climbs such as The Tumble and hosts major events including the Dragon Ride and the forthcoming Tour de France stages. Mountain bikers are equally spoilt, with three excellent trail centres within 20 miles, including Bike Park Wales, one of Europe’s largest and most celebrated MTB parks. From the barn, riders can access scenic lanes, challenging ascents and peaceful off road routes, supported by maps, guidebooks and contacts for local MTB guides. When you’re ready to slow the pace, a footpath leads down to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal for relaxed towpath walks. Nature lovers can explore The Blorenge, the Punchbowl and nearby peaks such as Sugar Loaf and Skirrid, while Abergavenny and Crickhowell offer great food, history and independent shops.
Inside, the barn centres around a light-filled, open-plan living area where a wood burner creates a welcoming focal point for relaxed evenings after days outdoors. Bi-fold doors open onto a fully enclosed terrace, creating an easy indoor-outdoor flow that works especially well for guests with dogs. The lounge includes a Smart TV, along with a thoughtful collection of board games, books and local guides to help shape your stay. The kitchen and dining area has been designed for sociable mealtimes, with everything needed for preparing breakfasts, packed lunches or evening suppers. The ground floor also includes a practical cloakroom, alongside a dedicated boot and utility room complete with washing machine, tumble dryer, coat storage and a boot-drying rack – a useful addition after muddy walks or rainy cycling routes. Upstairs, two generously proportioned king-size bedrooms provide restful spaces to recharge. One bedroom includes an en-suite shower room with WC, while the second benefits from an en-suite featuring both a bath and a separate shower.
Outside, the enclosed terrace is arranged for al fresco dining with outdoor seating and a gas BBQ for warmer evenings. Guests also have access to a secure bike store and private off-road parking for two cars. Beyond the barn itself, shared facilities add even more to your stay. A games room includes a pool table, while the surrounding grounds have a tranquil wildlife lake, seating areas and seasonal wildflower meadows. Guests will delight in direct access to the property's wood, a regeneration project of over four thousand trees that is filled with bluebells in the Spring. There’s also a bike wash area that doubles as a practical dog wash after countryside adventures. For larger groups, there’s a second barn adjoining this one, which sleeps four.
