Cabin Name: Owls Roost
Come and take a look at this beautifully decorated cottage located just outside of the Smoky Mountains National Park and Cades Cove. Owls Roost is located at the end of a very quiet dead end road. It offers peace and quiet as well as easy access. The master bedroom has a king size bed and 1/2 bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a twin beds. The main bathroom is off of the living space and offers a standard tub/shower. The kitchen is modern and well equipped.
On the back of this cabin is a very large screened in porch. It overlooks a private mountain view and sits over a river. You can not see the river but you can hear the sounds of the rushing water which makes it very relaxing. The screened in porch has several rocking chairs, a swing and outside eating area. There is also an extra large hot tub that will be ready for you to use.
Outside of the screened porch you will find a charcoal grill, table and chairs and a fire pit just for your family.

Fireplaces: *On During: October 1st - April 1st
Common Concerns: *Road Conditions: Some of our cabins are on steep, narrow, curvy, mountain roads. If you are concerned about road conditions to get to a cabin, please feel free to ask us! None of our cabins requires a 4-wheel drive under normal weather conditions, but some do in inclement weather. *TV & WiFi: We do have TVs and WiFi in most of our cabins. There are times when heavy cloud cover, weather systems, mountains, or trees will cause problems with the signals. We always want our guests to have the comforts they want on vacation, but there are times we cannot control this problem. *Pests & Wildlife: Here in the Smoky Mountains, we have lots of native bugs and wildlife. All of our cabins are treated for pests, but there are times you will find bugs or even have trouble with bugs. Fall/Winter is ladybug season in the Smokies, and these little buggers are attracted to heat, meaning your cabin and every other one out there that is warm! They will swarm to the cabin, and you'll probably see them alive/dead on windowsills, in vents, etc. Rest assured that your cabin has regular pest control and is professionally cleaned, including bug removal, before and after your stay. However, these bugs come back right away, and unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done about them until the season passes. Please never feed, taunt, or approach any wildlife. This is their home, and we are the visitors. *There are no refunds for storms or power outages. If there is a power outage, there will be no water and potentially no heat. Storms can also make roads impassable, so if a storm is in the forecast during your reservation, come prepared with water and non-perishable food, etc.
FEES: The management company of this cabin charges a $20 per stay Damage Waiver Fee to every customer. It is automatically included in your rate. This covers our guests for up to $350 worth of accidental damage should damage occur during their stay. If damage occurs to the cabin, furnishings, etc, please report it to management as soon as possible so that the damage can be repaired. You may opt out of paying the $20 damage waiver fee by putting down a $350 REFUNDABLE damage deposit.
✨ Peace of Mind & Travel Insurance: I want your stay to be stress-free and enjoyable. Please note that this home has a strict cancellation policy. Because life can be unpredictable, we encourage all guests to purchase travel insurance for extra peace of mind. This way, you can book with confidence knowing you’re protected no matter what comes up. This can be done at www.insuremytrip.com where you can pick the coverage that suits your situation.

We love the “Owl’s Roost”! We have stayed there numerous times and are always pleased with our stay. We love the location. It is merely minutes from Cades Cove, which is our favorite place when we come to Tennessee. The upgrades they have made are great. We hope to be back real soon!

We had a wonderful time and the property suited our needs perfectly. Easy access to Smoky Mountain National Park on “the peaceful side” away from the Gatlinburg craziness. Hanging out on the screened in porches was our favorite part.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We're thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful time and that the property met your needs perfectly. It’s great to know you enjoyed the easy access to the Smoky Mountain National Park’s peaceful side—such a serene escape from the hustle of Gatlinburg. And those screened-in porches truly are a special spot for relaxing and soaking in the beauty of the surroundings. We hope to host you again in the future!
Quiet and Peaceful. Just before Townsend. Not far from food, shopping, the river and the mountains. A great home base to spend time on the river on the quiet side. Make your drive easier by using a car with all wheel drive. As such, we had no issue. Plenty of space to relax.

Thank you so much for staying with us at Owls Roost. It is an awesome cabin and a great place to stay while visiting the Great Smoky Mountains National Park!
I really enjoyed this VBRO's location and hot tub. The screened in porch is amazing and just so lovely to sit and enjoy the woods. The kitchen was well-equipped, too. I could even make my smoothies! My only complaint would be to maybe add box springs because the beds were pretty hard without it.

Hi Eva!
Thank you for letting us know about the beds! We rarely get to test them out, so we always appreciate our valued guest input! I'm so glad the kitchen provided everything you needed!
The property was perfect for our getaway. It has everything you would need. After a day of hiking it was great to have the hot tub to relax in and the bed was very comfy. My only suggestion would be to update the pictures as the furniture was different than the pictures. If returning to the area would definitely book this cabin again.
We loved our recent stay the Owl's Roost with all the comforts of home! The cabin is super charming and the inside of the cabin is surprising larger than expected/photos. Kitchen was well supplied with dishes, utensils, and cookware. Great location to nearby Great Smoky Mountains, Cades Cove, Tuckaleechee Caverns and Little Arrow River. The only reminder would be to bring your own firewood and any condiments for grilling steaks/hamburgers/hot dogs. Loved it!!
Our stay was mostly great. The location was fairly easy to find with the added directions on their downloadable guide. The place was clean and location was quiet and in a nice convenient area to the park. There were only a few details that I would like to add that made my review a 4 instead of a 5. There were a couple things in the cabin that were broken or did not work properly such as a chair in the dining area, we weren’t notified of this and went to sit down only to almost fall due to chairs leg being broken. The glass sliding door leading to the back deck was impossible to lock back up once opened as well. The restroom was not supplied with any shampoo, conditioner or body was which I think is standard whenever staying anywhere. It would have also been nice to have aluminum foil or parchment paper for cooking as well as salt since these items are used in very small quantities and would be a waste for guest to buy only to leave most of it behind. I also do not recall reading or being notified of the washer and dryer being located in the back of the property and requiring a key for entry. I did a little looking around and had noticed a window and steps that lead to the back of the property which freaked us out at first. I was able to see a key hanging in the key hanger and put two and two together and figured out this was the location to the washer and dryer. All this could have been avoided if it was mentioned in their instructions. Other than that stay was pleasant.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the location, found the cabin clean, and appreciated the quiet setting so close to the park. We truly value your input, and I’m sorry for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay.
I apologize about the dining chair and the back sliding door — both issues have now been addressed so future guests won’t encounter the same problem. We also appreciate your suggestions regarding basic kitchen items and toiletries, and we’ll keep those in mind as we continue improving the guest experience.
Regarding the washer and dryer, I’m sorry for any confusion. The digital guidebook includes detailed instructions on where the laundry room is located, how to access it with the key, and how to use the washer/dryer. I will review this section to ensure it’s even clearer moving forward.
The digital guidebook also provides specifics on exactly what is supplied in the kitchen, and it is sent out one week prior to arrival so guests can plan and pack accordingly. I’m sorry if this information wasn’t easily found during your stay.
Thank you again for your helpful feedback and for staying with us. We’re glad your visit was pleasant overall, and we hope to welcome you back again in the future for an even better stay.
Frequent and thorough communication with the property Manager- no concerns there!. The home was clean and well-appointed with the exception of kitchen linens- fortunately I have often experienced this at rental properties and packed some from home. Otherwise the kitchen had more items than I had hoped for.
Location is great - our first time in Townsend and loved being close to town but super quiet at the house.
The home will need some maintenance work- the floors are very un-level and the shower floor has more flex than you’d expect or want. There may also be some other plumbing type things to be addressed as when using the toilet in the 1/2 bath, it sounds as though water is running under the floor (before flushing).
We were overall very happy with our stay!
I am always very hesitant to write reviews knowing that I am exceptionally particular which is why I gave a high rating and added comments.

Thank you so much for letting us know about your concerns. We will sending these to our maintenance department to have the addressed. We are thrilled that you loved the location. It's so nice to get the quiet private feel while being right outside of the little town, with everything so easily accessible in just a short trip! Thank you, again!
We loved our stay at this cabin. The beds are comfortable and we loved the hot tub. We did see a bear very close to the porch but it was timid and ran away.
